The Exarchate of Ravenna is a remnant of the ancient Byzantine holdings in Italy. By now, the country has become a marginal player in the international arena, and also a conservative one. The local culture is an interesting mix between Greek and Italian, with an interesting dialect of Italian, similar to Griko. The state has defied the Pope for ages and Orthodoxy survived as it's religion. Now it's fate is in God's hands, for nobody knows if this last Roman bastion falls to dust, or rises, like a phoenix from the ashes.

History:

The city of Urbino has been rebuilt from ruins, despite the harsh environment of the once sun-bathed fields of Italy now turned into desolate wastelands by the nuclear wars.

Ferrara has been rebuilt and restored, the people are confident that Rome will rise again.

The Exarchate has suffered from a barbaric raid performed by the vile nation of Paclon. His Holiness, though, states that this has not hindered Ravenna's efforts to restore the Roman Empire as the country quickly recovered and learnt the lesson, finally expanding the Armatas, which has lately been declining into oblivion.
