PRE-HISTORY
The land of Erycina was first inhabited by indigenous tribes of Leon and Markham in what is now known as the UDS Region. It was conquered by the Phoenix Empire, and later, the Queendom of Beaufort-Jackson in the Second Phoenix Civil War. The Queendom called the land Beaufort-Hedop, and established 6 colonies. In 1954, the colonies of Beaufort-Hedop gained their independence and became the Constitutional Monarchy of Erycina.
In the 20th and 21st Centuries, Erycina underwent rapid development and economic growth, a trend that continues to this day. Erycina is a prosperous nation with a GDP of $540.3 trillion, with a GDP per capita of $193,933 as a result of a competent government managing the distribution of wealth, as well as in part due to its rich natural resources. The economy is fueled by the Tourism Industry thanks due to the nation's vast and unique landscapes, with major industries in Information Technology, Retail, Manufacturing, and Energy.
HISTORY
Entering into the second half of the 21st century, the nation funded a formidable space program. Amidst issues with overpopulation and despite relatively well-being, with the permission of 18.2 million citizens, On June 16th, 2054, Erycina's date of independence, Project Exodus was launched by the Erycinan Space Agency. The Project saw the launch of 5 groups, each responsible with the colonization of a planet likely to be inhabitable.
On January 30th, 2072, The group that led to the creation of New Erycina landed on Orbis and established communications with the Erycinan Space Agency. Having been the group assigned to inhabit the closest planet, the whereabouts and current situation of the four other groups are unknown, but it is expected that they will not arrive at their respective planets for another 2-3 decades.
Upon arrival, New Erycina was quickly established as an Erycinan territory, and branded as "the Commonwealth of New Erycina". While in all essence, New Erycina is its own country, its territorial constitution and citizens still exist under the Erycinan Constitution Act of 1999. However, New Erycinans no longer have voting rights in Erycina.
The Commonwealth is currently led by Chancellor Dr. David Williams. |
