Samajwadi Party won over Uttar Pradesh in 1993 with Bahujan Samaj Party but unfortunately it was withdrawn by them on 2nd June 1995 and the rule got change. Since last 8 years Samajwadi Party was out of power and finally got back in 23rd August 2003. Last year only it has won 143 seats and within a year it was having 175 seats and with outside support of Indian National Congress Rastriya Lok Dal and some Independent he formed government. Though the tenure was good Samajwadi Party had to face defeat on 2007 elections with only 97 seats and its new rival Bahujan Samaj Party has won 206 seats a land slide victory. 5 years of opposition of Samajwadi Party would had been disappointing if Akhilesh Yadav didn't take command of the party in 2009 Indian general elections where it has given a good fight to ruling Bahujan Samaj Party and had taken an edge of 2 seats. Coming 2012 election became turning point of Samajwadi party when it has won a land slide victory by winning 224 seats under the leadership of new leader Akhilesh Yadav and it's rival won only 80 seats. Mayawati the leader of Bahujan Samaj Party has made her own statue which made Akhilesh to take that thing as an advantage in election. |
