Lakia is a Democratic Republic located in modern-day Italy, in the Veneto region.

Its inception dates back to 2021, when the world was hit with one of the biggest crises it had ever faced. From the ashes of destruction, Lakia had risen to become a regional power. However, due to severe economic and political issues and the constant changing of regimes, the country's government collapsed, never forming again: Lakia had fallen into anarchy. After a 3 year period, a new, Democratic Republic had been formed, building itself up from the previous regime's foundations. This era of stability was even shorter this time, with the country eventually falling again into anarchy. A coup d'état followed, turning the country into a short-lived fascist regime. The people eventually revolted, publicly executing the authoritarian figures that previously ran the country, reforming once again a Democratic Republic. 

Today, the nation still faces a massive challenge: after numerous lost wars and the long lasting periods of anarchy, most of the country's infrastructure has to be rebuilt. The country mostly relies on steel exports to stay afloat, as the steel industry was one of the few things kept intact. We will not directly attack any country, but we will respond if provoked.

Thanks to a remilitarization plan approved by the government and mostly financed by raiding other nations, Lakia's shattered army has been succesfully rebuilt, stronger than ever before, as military spending has risen to extreme levels, explaining the comparatively low GNI.
