Magna Graecia is an ancient and archaic nation dating back to the earliest dates of Digiterra, led by Basileus Altheus Daetalos, guardian of the Graecian way of life, slayer of krakens and lover of fine wines. The nation's history is tinged with sadness at the event in early 07 known as the Great Deluge, in which, in a calamity brought upon by the very gods themselves, the first nation of Magna Graecia was swept aside by the ocean forcing its inhabitants to flee to nearby countries. Thankfully its survivors, led by Altheus, came back to find the land rich and fertile once more and henceforth the second age of Magna Graecia had started. Geographically the nation is situation on an archipelago consisting of over 300 islands and tiny islets, although most of its inhabitants live on the major islands of Ellada to the north-west, Bithynia to the north-east or Morea to the south-west. The capital however is centrally placed on Attika, a relatively small island deep within the heart of the archipelago. Magna Graecia trades in marbles, spices and olives. The marble, renowned for its clarity and lustre, is mined from the cliffs of Thasos. The spices and olives, notably the famous Kalamata stuffed olives are grown in the valleys of Morea, were chilli and garlic grows particularly well and the olives are known for their size and tastiness. The nation of Magna Graecia maintains a nuclear deterrent at all times, hidden within a nuclear base suspected to be somewhere amongst the Thessalian highlands. Sadly in this all too unstable world these have been called upon almost annually in the defense of the nation, the alliance and also allies, but Magna Graecia has never hesitated to press the big purple button if needed.
