A Destroyer of the Royal Ceresian Navy was attacked early this afternoon while conducting routine patrols in the Bering sea. At present the identity of the attackers are unknown, all that was reported by HMS Lanakila, was that they had begun to track multiple incoming objects from land.

The Royal Navy has been assisting the Royal Ceresian Coast Guard in it's ongoing mission to intercept criminal trafficking operations in the area that have been at an all time high. The Royal Cersian Coast guard had been undergoing a refit of most of it's surface fleet, replacing many old cutters and interceptor patrol craft when the increase in trafficking operations began to occur, as the upgrades and refitting of the Ceresian Coast Guard are still several years away from completion, an arrangement was made with the Royal Navy for the use of several of it's ships to assist in the Bering sea, while the coast guard would handle most of the operations in the arctic coasts where they are fitted to better handle the icy conditions, and the main shipping lanes of the Southern Coast.

1 destroyer and 2 frigates of the Royal Navy were dispatched to cover a 300 mile radius of the Bering Sea just west of Nunivak Island for 3 month deployment out of the Naval Base at Adak Island.  HMS Lanakila(Ka'iulani Class Guided Missile Destroyer based off the venerated Arleigh Burke Class), and HMS Hokupa'a and HMS Kitaguchi(Kaimiloa Class Guided Missile Frigate based off of the Halifax Class) were assigned as Task Force Pono, with the HMS Lanakila taking the lead. The ships would operate within the 300 mile radius and were spread evenly to cover the vast distances of their Area of Operation, utilizing patrol helicopters and small patrol craft to conduct operations. Due to Posse Comitatus's limitation of the Military to conduct Law Enforcement operations, The Navy's mission was to intercept and detain offenders until coast guard vessel or craft could link up to take on the offenders. To assist in this role, a small team of Coast Guard Servicemembers would be assigned to each Royal Navy Vessel conducting coastal patrol operations, since during peacetime the Royal Cersian Coast Guard operates under the Ministry of Homeland Security with Law Enforcement authority on the seas.

At this present time, information is still coming in about the attack, but sources within the Ministry of Defense have said that the HMS Lanakila is on fire and taking on water. Information is unknown but what is known is that the incident has prompted the emergency deployment of a Carrier Strike group out of Port Chignik Naval Base as well as the scrambling of aircraft from Adak Naval Air Station.
