Goodbye Vilania, hello Auraterra
I have to admit that there’s too much about Vilania in RP that’s unrealistic, so I’m doing a full rebrand now. My territory will remain the same, but I’m changing my name to Auraterra, which fuses the Latin words of “gold” and “land” because Ghana, which was my first RP territory, is rich in gold. In real life it’s the world’s 11th largest gold producer.
My new country’s full name will be the United Dominion of Auraterra. I will keep my motto of “God, Country, Honor”. However, my flag will change to this:
My national population and land area will of course remain the same, but I’m going to scale down my military and economic prowess since I’m semi-new to RP. I’ll put my GDP per capita at the level of a middle (ish) income country, and my military will be much more modest.
Historically, I will mark the beginning of the independent state of Auraterra on March 6, 1957, when Ghana gained independence from Britain, however, my national history will not be the same as Ghana’s, since I will have gained more territory since then. Here is how my history will have transpired:
March 6, 1957-independence and formation of the Dominion of the Gold Coast, Michael-Emile Marshall enthroned as an absolute monarch, takes the title Michael-Emile I of the Gold Coast
April 12, 1961-annexation of Liberia, country renamed to Dominion of the Gold Coast and Liberia
May 7, 1966-annexation of Togo and Benin, country renamed as the United Dominion of the Gold Coast and Liberia
January 14, 1970-Gold Coast and Liberia renamed to Auraterra, Michael-Emile I becomes King Michael-Emile I of Auraterra
March 5, 1972-first democratic elections held, Auraterra transitions to a constitutional monarchy
June 22, 2014-annexation of Annobon Island (never claimed in RP so I can put this basically whenever I want)
May 20, 2099-purchase and annexation of Cabinda from Kolakia (this is the official date but it is an approximation, I don’t know when it exactly happened)
My government will stay a constitutional monarchy, however, our political system will change. We will have a hereditary monarch from the House of Marshall and a bicameral Parliament with a National Assembly and a Senate. We will have a President elected popularly and a Prime Minister appointed by the President. He will be confirmed by the National Assembly serve as a kind of Vice President. The National Assembly will be the more powerful house in Parliament, with most of the real responsibility. Our King will be named Michael-Emile III, our President will be named Daniel Longford, and our Prime Minister will be named William Boateng.
The capital will be called Auropolis, or essentially “city of gold.” It will be a planned city built on the banks of Lake Volta, completed in 2033. Our largest city is Accra, which will be named Hamilton, as it was when I was Vilania. I will also be changing the names of all my major cities. That will be released when I write a new national information bulletin. Here are the current top 20 cities in Auraterra with their IRL populations:
Accra, Ghana-2,500,000
Kumasi, Ghana-2,000,000

Demographically, we will be majority black, but with a significant white minority. There will also be a fair number of mixed-race people. We will be a predominantly Christian country with a small Muslim minority. Catholicism will be our official religion and guide our laws, morality, and culture.
That’s all for now, expect lots more updates soon.

In my first language Vilania means Villainy, so everytime I read your previous name it reminded me of something evil and bad, I'm glad you changed it 👍
No problem, it's a really nice name now I hope
