Preparing the future for journalism, since 2076.

23rd of February, 2098.

RATREE PRANEE METHAROM ELECTED INTERIM PRESIDENT

Expected to rule East India till parliamentary elections for lower house of Indian parliament concluded.

PRAKASH KUMAR ROY, CALCUTTA

The people of East India elected their representatives for their states and also participated in the indirect election to elect their interim president. The two East Bengals, two Mizorams, Tripura, Arakan, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, South Burma, Mon State, Kayah, Karen, Tanintharyi, Federated Thailand and the special territories elected representatives for their states.

While the Left won the two East Bengals, Tripura, Arakan, Assam, Manipur, South Burma, Special territories, Mon State and Tanintharyi, The Maoists won Karen and Kayah, and agreed to an alliance with the Left at Federated Thailand. The Congress retained its status in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal and Bhutan.

These states as per proportional representation and open list, elected their desired candidate for president.
The results were the following:

CANDIDATE

PERCENTAGE

Ratree Pranee Metharom (Nominated by Left and Maoists)

48%

Kazeya Kom (Nominated by Congress)

30%

Amaya Das (Nominated by dissenting members of Janata Parties)

8%

Shekhar Upadhyay (Nominated by Janata Parties)

7%

Jenny Kom (Nominated by Red-Star Party)

3%

Ramaya Bezbaruah (Nominated by Axom Front)

2%

U Myin (Nominated by Democratic Forum)

1%

Others

1%

Overall, Ratree got the highest number of votes, and she will assume the position of the interim president as a result till elections are completed for the Indian parliament.

However, there was a stark observation on the rise of a party, the Red-Star Party, which has been described by many think-tanks and organisations as a 'fascist group' which has been involved in various hate programs all around the nation, and won the states of Mizoram, both Federated and Unfederated. Earlier, Red-Star Party was mostly based in Kyber-Pakhtunwa as an anti-UOI party which wanted secession for Zullimanistan. However, after the entry of Jenny Kom, the party shifted its focus towards East India, and instead of becoming secessionist, it adopted an idea of 'pure' and 'impure' races in India, where this party advocates for the return of power in the hands of 'pure' races and creation of a worker's oriented state. The members of this party have previously been convicted of hate speech and crimes against ethnic groups like Meiteis, Nagas, Bengalis and Tripuris. What happens of the party in the future is uncertain.

The elections, however were rather a dissapointing one for Kazeya and her supporters, who have lost and now are expecting trial for charges of corruption and political murders. Ratree however, celebrates with her supporters, mostly men who throw her up in air to celebrate at the streets of Phuket.

The Janata alliance, crippled by its divided supporting base had nominated two candidates, both of whom lost. Shekhar accepts defeat in a public speech in Dhaka, where he blames party leadership of the Indian Socialist Congress, while Amaya blames Shekhar for being a rebel and 'Kazeya-Collaborator'. The Axom Front did not manage to sweep opinion of the local Assamese as it appears, because the Left and Congress emerged the dominant players in Assamese legislature. Democratic Forum, however seems to fail again on its belief that its 'intellectuals' can compete against the generally left-wing intelligentsia of the nation. The question of U Myin's education and reputation will be held in question by the Herald.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF 'THE PACIFIST'

The writers of the newspapers seem to not understand how to write newspapers to be very clear from our side. Their immature style of writing and their very dishonest reporting of the background of a reputed Newspaper like the Herald is condemnable to the very least.

The Herald believes in preparing the future for professional journalism, and we very clearly support the participation of students in our newspaper. Our newspaper does not aim to support any political party or any organisation, unlike the biased newspaper which seems to criticize us.

Their immature and very casual approach to journalism reveals much about their nature of information collected too. To the students and 'workers' who seemed to be involved in this newspaper, beware of using profanities and immature language against reputed newspapers.

(Yo students of Presidency University here. We managed to sneak this paragraph in the final print. You guys are completely correct, the Herald is just a bunch of crooked professors lol. Whoever reads the herald is nerd lmao.)
