The German Federation has officially been dissolved today. This comes after a dispute in which the Dutch Republic gave away a piece of so called "Federal Territory" without consulting the Federation. The Dutch rebutted that no member of the Federation had been active in it for a long while, and that no member had even acknowledged being a part of it for years. In a fiery rant he proclaimed that the Dutch Republic would not be the only member abiding by Federal rules and guidelines, while it's other members would do whatever they merrily wish.
In a reaction to this, the Austrian representative proclaimed that they'd close down the major communication channel of the Federation, and the British left. This was seen as the moment the German Federation was dissolved. In Frankfurt, which is the Federal capital, the (lack of) leadership signed a treaty to end the suffering of the dying entity.
The Dutch government has expressed her sorrow about the sudden end of the Federation, which used to be a major player in European politics. But it also said the dissolution was coming with the inactiveness and dissapearance of several of it's major members.
Alexander Pendragon, the Prime Minister of Britain, has commented on the dissolution of the German Federation. He said "it is a great tragedy that our regional partnership has collapsed. The future is uncertain over the future of Hannover but Britain will remain committed to doing what is best for their people."
The Austrian and Prussian governments denied to comment, The Uwistan government wasn't available to comment at the time of writing of this article. We will miss the German Federation sincerely, and still hope to maintain good relations in the region, just not in the format of a Federation.
The Treaty of !@#$, Overijssel
20-02-2096 | Straatsburg
A map of Alsace-Lorraine for illustration purposes
Dutch and Victorian diplomats have signed the Treaty of !@#$, Overijssel today. The Dutch, in their effort to get rid of territories to which they don't have ties (except for Ningbo) have decided to get rid of the Duchy of Alsace-Lorraine, This comes after a decision to cede sovereignty of Macau to Tang. The Dutch are changing their position in the world, to one that's more powerful than ever before. The decision to only claim territories with Dutch ties makes this much easier, as people are more willing to work with the central government that way.
Now let's take a look at the treaty the 2 friendly powers signed regarding Alsace-Lorraine.
Treaty of !@#$, Overijssel:
The Dutch Republic will:
Cede the sovereignty over the Duchy of Alsace-Lorraine over to Victoria.
Sign a non agression pact with Victoria.
Maintain a Dutch military base in the region.
Victoria Will:
Guarantee the freedom of the Duchy.
Promise not to, under any circumstances hand the land over to Uchama, Melon, Soviet or any of it's allies.
Not allow Uchamese, Melonese or Soviet troops or PMC's in the land.
Not kill the old Duchy's leadership.
Guarantee that no major power blocs will establish themselves in the region.
Not allow foreign military bases in the land (other than a Dutch base).
It is expected that with the 2 nations will work closely together in the maintaining of peace, both internationally and in Europe in the future. Long live Victoria, Long live the Dutch Republic!
Purchase of South Africa
20-02-2096 | Pretoria
The Dutch have purchased South Africa from the British Empire, as safekeeping land for when worthy roleplay nations come along and want actual useful land and not automatically be banished to a place in the middle of nowhere central Africa by one of the big empires. In return for a small sum of money, the British have handed us the country, it's resources and a promise of protection.
The Dutch military has already moved in and secured the country for the government. Soon, local governments are to be established and massive investments will be put into the land. The creation of a special South African military division is already on the way and will be finished within a normal amount of time (or when I can be bothered to).
We will keep you posted.
