BREAKING NEWS: President De Jager has just signed a series of emergency laws to "protect state safety." Parliament was called into an emergency session by Minister of Defense Marnix de Graaf, who proposed a series of emergency laws to protect the Republic from communist influences. Long having had strong ties with the Soviet Federation, the SIVD and her predecessor had long relaxed surveillance on Soviet citizens visiting the country. This made the fact that the Soviets decided to take such a rash action as complete diplomatic severance a complete shock, causing great panic within the government.
Emergency Laws for State Security:
As the Soviet ambassador has already left the country, the Dutch ambassador to the Soviet Federation was immediately recalled.
To avoid spying upon our country, all Soviet citizens within the Dutch Republic are to be detained and deported within a short timeframe. No visas will be extended to Soviet citizens any longer, and existing visas have been retracted.
Soviet planes, both military and civilian are banned from Dutch airspace. A violation of this ban will be reacted upon accordingly.
Soviet ships, both military and civilian are banned from Dutch territorial waters. A violation of this ban will be reacted upon accordingly.
All willing Dutch citizens on vacation in the Soviet Federation have been recalled, should they not come back within a week, they lose their Dutch citizenship.
All willing Dutch citizens living in the Soviet Federation have been recalled. They get a month to return to the Netherlands, where they shall receive housing and a reasonable state income for their entire families until they can get back on their feet. Should they not return to the Netherlands within this timeframe, they lose their citizenship.
A travel ban is instated upon the Soviet Federation, as well as upon her allies bordering us the Dutch Republic. No Dutch citizen is able to travel there using legal methods anymore.
The borders with the nation of Uchama are closed down, and the construction of a new defense line along the border begins immediately. Any Uchaman citizen found crossing the border will be detained and deported back to their homeland.
The Dutch will no longer trade with the Soviet Federation, or any nations it considers a close Soviet ally. (Purposely left vague.)
Critics and the opposition have called this laws authoritarian and racist, stating that the Soviet Federation hasn't banned civilian travel, so neither should we. President De Jager has reacted with a statement proclaiming that the Dutch Republic doesn't take half assed actions, and that the Soviet Federation clearly does not like Dutch involvement in the solving of international conflicts, which might endanger it's stranglehold over politics in Europe.
The Duchy of Elza's-Lotharingen has adopted the same laws. The anti communist sentiment in the duchy has been high for a long time, but she was always being kept in line by Parliament. Now that the Dutch parliament has signed off on anti communist laws, the local government saw the time right to do the same.
Many Dutch citizens have already returned to the homeland, preferring Dutch soil over Soviet communism after all. The government will provide for these people as good as it can, and assist them in rebuilding their life in this new setting.
Bart De Jager's Christmas Speech
23-12-2095 | Amsterdam
"Dear citizens of the Dutch Republic. 2095 was a busy, but good year for our Republic. A year which domestically saw a coup and a huge shift in the diplomatic landscape of the Netherlands, while internationally it was plagued by war and death. Where the Soviets were razing down the housing blocks in Istanbul and alienating it's allies, the Republic saw an increase in her participation in peacemaking efforts.
We and our allies have managed to avoid several wars, caused by the Soviet's rash decision making, thanks to our diplomatic corps. We are proud to have had a hand in both the Treaty of the Hague and the Treaty of Roosevelt and commend (most) of the other participating nations for their efforts to avoid war.
The coming year, we will fully embrace our new diplomatic stance to help promote peace all over the world. We will not forget you, the people, though. Our government will continue it's efforts to keep the cost of living as low as possible, to fight discrimination and to promote equality all over the Republic.
Although religion is not so popular anymore in our country, I do want to wish you all a happy holidays and the best for 2096. Long Live the Dutch Republic!"
- Bart de Jager, President of the Dutch Republic.
OUT OF RP
??? | ???
I quite honestly do not see a future for myself within PnW roleplay as it is right now. I just cannot manage to bring up the motivation to put out quality content regularly, and for some reason there's always fights. Now that Luna has managed to free herself from the chains of the monster that is PnW RP, I am starting to consider doing the same for myself.
For now, I am not yet leaving. Instead I will try to find ways to make RP fun for myself again. I hope I succeed as PnW RP has been such a big part of my life for so long, but all I can do now is wait and see. Thank you for reading this piece of trash bulletin. Buhbye.
Thank you for also admitting that you were spying on Soviet Citizens as well. Even in the Federation we don't actively spy on visiting Citizens of other countries without an actual reason.
@Soviet Federation. Registers of visitors and visa holders are in hands of the SIVD for counter terrorism purposes. Background checks are common are common before granting one, the Soviets were sadly considered such good allies that they weren't considered a threat and now we pay the price for that relaxation.
Also please don't tell your airport security about standard security procedures where visitors get asked about the purpose of their visits and destination.
Also also: It wasn't my decision to sever our relations. The fact that you can't handle nations being openly critical of your decisions is also not my problem. I am just reacting accordingly.

Somehow this benefits me. Uchamese citizens are not permitted to leave. Also, If you care, I also have a defense line on your border.

I never accused you of you severing relations. I was the one who did. I just don't like associating myself with TUI puppets.
I guess anyone that doesnt bow to Soviet hegemony is a TUI puppet
The more you know I guess
Btw, Pino, we may have our differences, but I'd be sad to see you go, I hope you can find some sort of passion for bulletins again
