Exploring Antarctic Ascent and its Thriving Rubber Industry
Greetings, adventure lovers! Your intrepid journalist Frosty Insider here, returning from my latest escapade to Antarctica's strategic new harbor settlement called Antarctic Ascent. Located in none other than my beloved homeland of Plumbago!
Join me on a tale of discovery to this emerging industrial hub.
After stepping off the smooth Southern Seas Railroad sleeper train at Antarctic Ascent’s bustling central station, I knew this bright and booming metropolis had to be explored first-hand. My ever-curious journalistic instincts drew me straight to the heart of the action at the gargantuan Ascent Rubber Technologies factory on the city's eastern edge.
As I walked into the soaring production halls of this rubber giant, I was stunned by the sheer scale and precision of operations. Row upon row of tireless machines were actively crafting heavy duty rubber tape and flexible silicone gaskets ready to ship worldwide. Operated by talented factory workers churning out everything from durable rubber conveyor belts to intricate silicone seals by the ton. The logistics team assured me it was all efficiently loaded via an integrated railroad and sea shipping system to fill non-stop orders bound for ports across Antarctica and beyond!
Annual production: 37,000 metric tons of industrial rubber goods
Product mix: 30% silicone gaskets, 50% adhesive tapes and lining, 20% insulation sheets
Exports: 65% of output shipped internationally
Employees: 2,100 personnel employed onsite
Payroll: $112 million annually
Floor space: 92 thousand square meters total factory space
Power consumption: 380 megawatt hours
Location: Antarctic Ascent, Plumbago
Eager to get an insider’s perspective, I sat down with jovial factory supervisor Tony Toaster, a 23 year veteran of the manufacturing industry.
“We take pride in the work done here, Frosty,” Tony told me. “Our rubber products built from Plumbago’s first-rate raw materials keep this country running across transportation, manufacturing, shipbuilding and more. So we keep investing and innovating - last year alone we purchased five next-gen extruding lines to double silicone gasket production!"
From the satisfied sparkle in Tony's eyes, the future looks bright for Ascent Rubber and Plumbago alike. He happily chatted about his wonderful family and how the great pay allows weekend ice fisshing getaways to the breathtaking Glacial Gorge Park.
There’s my up-close look at the industrial might of Ascent Rubber in Antarctic Ascent, stay tuned for my next journey
