The sun was shining brightly on Paleis Zeezicht. This was a special presidential palace and the only palace in Dutch territory, construction on it began when the republic was first proclaimed, but was now officially finished. Most remains of the old monarchy and Dutch culture were wiped out by the Uchamans, who had conquered the territory for themselves and tried to convert the Dutch population to become Uchaman by force. The Dutch did not give up and roll over of course. After they reclaimed independence, Dutch culture was partially restored, albeit to the standards of President Kuyper's Paradise plans.

Now that the palace had become the home of the President, it was also to be used as the center for all important things that have to do with the president. Today, thousands of enthusiastic citizens had gathered in the large and elegant gardens of Paleis Zeezicht, all ready to see their President be sworn in for a second term, and hear the appointments for the government positions the President announced he'd create.

At exactly noon, the Wilhelmus began playing. This was the anthem of the old Kingdom of the Netherlands, although it was updated to modern standard and the pro monarchist lyrics were removed, leaving just the instrumental. The President stepped out on his balcony, in full ceremonial attire. The attending crowd went wild, seeing their president for the first time since the election. The president was first allowed to speak to the people that came to see him.

"My loyal citizens, it has become clear that you all came to the palace in droves.. just to see me?" The people cheered. "I am truly honoured that you have decided to give me more time to put our little country back on the map. But before we all start celebrating, I have to make an apology. An apology to the people of the DCH (Dutch Caribean Holdings)." The cheering crowd went dead silent, having forgotten about their fellow overseas countrymen and women, who hadn't received the same rights as the mainlanders yet.

"You were not allowed to vote in this election, because you haven't received your Dutch passports yet, this news has deeply saddened me. As a little sweetener, you will receive a lot of funds this term, to bring you up the speed with the mainland and of course we will increase the speed that the passports are handed out. I am really really sorry about this, but I'll ensure you'll all be allowed to vote in next election."

President Kuyper's words were met with a mixture of surprise and gratitude from the crowd. Many in the audience applauded in approval, appreciating the President's acknowledgement of the oversight and his commitment to make this mistake right. The Dutch Caribean Holdings, often overlooked in the political discourse, were finally getting the attention they deserved.

Now it was time for the official inauguration of the President. Boudewijn Kuyper put his hand on a book of law and spoke: "Bound by the constitution, drafted to preserve democracy in our Republic, I pledge to protect the territory within our nation with all of my might, just as I protect the rights and prosperity of the Dutch and everyone else that calls our Republic their home, or I will not be called President."

After the pledge, the President was officially inaugurated and held his speech reaffirming his biggest plans for this term. The most important plans mentioned were the continuation of the Goudmijn Plan, the reforms in the Nederlandse Marine, the pursuit of equality in the DCH and the improving of relations with our neighbors. He then announced the expansion of his government (see picture) and was applauded one last time before he went back into the palace and the crowd left.
