History: Kutmicevica's history begins with the Mariovo-Prilep rebellion of 1564/1565. Leaders included Dimitrija Stale from Satoka, priest Dimitrija from Gradešnica, Matjo Nikola from Beleštevica, Stojan Pejo and priest Jakov from Staravina. The local Brsjak population revolted due to high taxes and overall brutal oppression from the Ottoman Empire. Ever since rebellion's usurpation, there has been a stronger Brsjak identity across Southwestern Macedonia. The first formation of a Brsjak state that would later come to be known as Kutmicevica began in the early 1800's as a small principality situated between Ohrid Lake and Resen, the principality lasted until it's occupation by the Bulgarian army in WW1. Kutmicevica was incorporated into the Kingdom of Yugoslavia after it was liberated in 1918, it enjoyed a limited autonomy until it was yet again occupied by the Italian army in WW2, the Brsjaks, alongside other nationalities inhabiting Ohrid, began an uprising that would eventually lead to the liberation of Ohrid and Resen, from that point on, the modern state of Kutmicevica began emerging. Today, Kutmicevica is a Republic.
