According to the 1991 census, the most represented nations are Serbs (62.6%), Albanians (16.5%), and Montenegrins (5%). There are also significant populations of Hungarians, Roma, Bulgarians, Macedonians, Romanians, and other Eastern Romance peoples (including Aromanians, Megleno-Romanians, and Vlachs), and dozens of other Slavic peoples—Bosniaks, Croats, Bunjevci, Šokci, Gorani, Janjevci, Ruthenians, Slovaks, Muslims, and Yugoslavs. A certain number of citizens identify as Egyptians and Ashkali.
