Serbia and Montenegro is more demographically diverse than most other European countries. According to the 1991 census, the most represented nations are Serbs (62.6%), Albanians (16.5%), and Montenegrins (5%). There are also significant populations of Hungarians, Roma, Bulgarians, Macedonians, Romanians, and other Eastern Romance peoples (including Aromanians, Megleno-Romanians, and Vlachs), and dozens of other Slavic peoples—Bosniaks, Croats, Bunjevci, Šokci, Gorani, Janjevci, Ruthenians, Slovaks, Muslims, and Yugoslavs. A certain number of citizens identify as Egyptians and Ashkali. These two groups were previously considered Roma, who believed they originated in present-day Egypt and Israel. The largest part of the ethnic diversity falls on Kosovo and Metohija and Vojvodina. The large Albanian population is mainly located in Serbia, mostly in Kosovo and Metohija, with smaller numbers in the municipalities of Preševo and Bujanovac, and in southeastern Montenegro (the municipality of Ulcinj). A large Bosniak population lives in the Sandžak region on the border of Serbia and Montenegro:
