History: Following the collapse of the US Federal Government to instability and rising economic pressures, the Union of America emerged as a much weaker, and less influential replacement. Based on the belief that the only way to save the union, was to militarily protect it at all costs. Though in the process of attempting to preserve the Union, they instead snuffed it out accidentally, through military force. So now the nation stands, with the District of Colombia, and sections of the surrounding countryside under its control. The Union is always one catastrophic war away from total defeat.
