History: Xoxia was founded in the year 2010 and gained independence in 2017

The story of Xoxia begins with a man named Nadani Djarbo. Nadani was born in 1980 to a Swedish mother and a Rwandan father in Stockholm, Sweden. At the age of three, Nadani’s mother left his father for another man, abandoning the family. Nadani’s father was a geologist, and his job took him and Nadani all around the country. Despite the constant moving, Nadani and his father frequently visited their home in Kigali, Rwanda. Nadani never went through formal schooling, but he loved to read and took a keen interest in all things geological. While on a geological expedition in Rwanda with his father at the age of 13, it was discovered that Nadani had a self-taught natural ability for finding underground oil with stunning accuracy simply by analyzing the topography of the land. The next year, a 14 year old Nadani and his father decided to permanently live in Rwanda in the hopes of using Nadani’s talent as an oil speculator. They had dreams of a father-son oil business, and his father had dreams of finally having enough money to put Nadani through formal education. Unfortunately, that year was 1994, the year of the Rwandan genocide. Nadani’s father was executed by the Hutus because he was Tutsi. 14 year old Nadani survived the ordeal, and was left all alone in a country he was just beginning to know. He found a company called RwandOil and offered to work for them. They quickly realized his abilities, and put him to work as an oil speculator. For 6 long years, Nadani watched as he did all the work and the company grew richer, while he remained desperately poor. In 2000, Nadani was deep in the Congo, speculating for oil. He felt lost, trapped in an endless cycle of poverty, unable to quit his job so as not to starve, but unable to move up the ladder either because of his controlling bosses. The story goes that Nadani sat down on a log, and broke down crying over his life, the loss of his father, and the loss of his dream. All of a sudden, Nadani heard the call of a Great Blue Taraco, chirping its characteristic *Cho-Chia-Cho-Chia* song. He looked up, and saw it standing on an unmistakable oil bed. He looked at the surrounding area and realized that he was standing on what looked to be an enormous oil well. He reported nothing to his superiors. He came back that same night with oil detection equipment, and all alone in the Congolese jungle, Nadani realized that he had discovered a massive oil reserve that was the likes of which nobody had ever discovered in that region of the Congo or Africa.

He had discovered El Dorado, but his fortune was black, not gold. He hid his discovery from his employer, and quit the next day. He stole drilling equipment from his former employer and with the help of his friends, a group of Rwandans that had been exiled to the Congo, Nadani went back to that spot and began drilling. He founded Xoxia Oil after the call of the Great Blue Taraco that had led him to this spot. He began exporting the oil at extremely cheap prices. Over time, demand for his cheap but seemingly endless supply of oil was so high that it drove many other African oil companies almost completely out of business, allowing him to buy them up and monopolize on African oil well beyond the area that was now being called Xoxia. While nobody knows for sure how much Nadani made over the course of his first 10 years, what is known is that it was well into the 100’s of billions, quietly becoming one of the world’s richest men, and finally being able to legally purchase his private swath of Congolese land from the Congolese government in 2010. All of these riches came with a price. Nadani’s operations, especially his main drilling location in the Congo were subjected to frequent guerilla attack. He had lost three drilling stations when he realized he needed to take drastic countermeasures to combat these warlords seeking to steal and sell his oil. Nadani needed a plan to protect his territory. Luckily for him, his plan would fall right into his hands. As it turns out, a very wealthy Russian businessman and arms dealer by the name of Victor Kirilenko, who also had business ventures in the Congo, was closely monitoring the situation. He reached out to Nadani, and in exchange for a cut of the oil profits, provided Nadani’s company with Russian mercenaries and Russian arms acquired at a fraction of the price. These mercenaries would go on to train locally conscripted militiamen that would become fiercely loyal to the Xoxian company. Because of their close proximity and daily exposure through training, as well as for efficiency's sake, these conscripts blended their native Rwandan and Congolese languages with Russian learned from the mercenaries and adapted the Cyrillic alphabet, creating a pidgin language that later evolved into the now recognized language of Congol, the only national Cyrillic language in Africa. Nadani was not a warlord, but in order to protect his business and the people that his business relied on, he had to act like one. He waged a war in the Congo that lasted 4 years, finally driving out all guerilla groups from the modern day border of Xoxia. He constructed a massive border wall around his territory, and allowed no-one in unless they were vetted and had a purpose to be in his territory. Eventually he came to realize what everyone else in the world was already realizing, that his territory was his own. They were no longer in the Congo, and for the past 10 years, people had already begun calling the region Xoxia, as it was radically different from the Congo. The wealth from the company stemmed downward into the communities and cities that were growing in his territory. Xoxia was becoming a business hub as well as an economic center for central Africa. The relative peace within the country meant stability, and stability meant that people could prosper. The people of Xoxia had been identifying as Xoxians for years, and had fought under Xoxia for 4 years in the Congolese Guerilla War. Opportunists and entrepreneurs flocked to the region with hopes of gaining wealth of their own. By 2016, Xoxia was the one of business capitals of Africa. Until that point, although there was a distinct national identity already forming, Xoxia was under the protection of the Xoxia private army, formed from the mercenary-trained civilian conscripts, and the cities and businesses all paid dividends to the actual Xoxia Oil company. The people wanted their independence as a true country however, and in 2017, Nadani restructured Xoxia from a business to a nation. A Constitution was drafted and a Declaration of Independence was signed. The Congolese government, far too weak to deal with Xoxia, allowed the separation, on the condition that Xoxia provided them with arms, munitions, and oil for their own fight against the guerillas. In 2018, Xoxia became a fully fledged UN member nation, and a national election was held for the first time. Nadani Djarbo ran for president and was unanimously elected by the population, being the founder of the country, writer of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and a war hero in the Congolese War. At the time, he had the entire support of the nation behind him. He immediately began an extreme infrastructural and construction initiative to create clean roads, cleared vegetation, and affordable housing units all across the nation. It was called the No-Slums Act of 2018. He made his company federally owned and operated, and kickstarted the economy by injecting billions of his own dollars and the new federal credits into the nation’s businesses and economy as a whole. By creating plentiful jobs with his overhaul, he transformed Xoxia into a first world country in under 4 years. Since then, Xoxia has only been growing into what many now call the Jewel of Africa.

Weaponry:

-Service Rifles

1. AK-47
Notes: The AK-47 is a classic rifle that was the most prevalent battle rifle used during the guerilla wars. It was natively prevalent among the Congolese and Rwandan populace, and it was also brought over by the Russian mercenary forces in significant numbers. Some Xoxian made stamped sheet metal AK-47s were even briefly produced from 2017-2018 during the guerilla wars because of its ease of use, prevalence, and ability to handle well in the jungle climate. However, the AK-47 would soon be phased out and new, more modern systems adopted.

2. AR-18
Notes:
In early 2017, Xoxian leader Nadani Djarbo, while simultaneously spearheading a program to create cheap AK-47's for the frontline of the guerilla wars, recognized some of the shortcomings of the AK platform, and allocated funding for a program to find a better rifle than the AK-47 for the Xoxian forces that was still cost effective. This rifle would have to handle well in Xoxia's jungle climate, and would also be 5.56x45mm NATO because of the nation's large stockpiles of this ammunition obtained from Rwanda's government in a deal gone wrong. The ammunition stockpiles were initially supposed to also be paired with Vektor R5's from Rwanda, but Rwanda backed out of this deal when they began to have insurgency issues themselves. The ammunition was already shipped, and for the beginning of the guerilla war, millions of rounds sat, virtually unused until Nadani set out to find a new rifle. The AR-18 platform was settled on because of its clean gas system, ease of manufacture, and ammunition type. Lots of Xoxian AR-18's were created during the guerilla wars, dubbed XR-1s. Despite the name change for the Xoxian military designation, they were functionally identical to AR-18s, with a few unique changes like wood furniture and a Xoxian jungle paintjob.

3. XR-2
Notes:
The XR-2 is a Xoxian rifle designed by the JDG arms company of Xoxia. It is an improvement on the XR-1 (AR-18) platform, and adds M-LOK modularity, an adjustable stock, a stock, pistol grip and handguard made of a high-strength lightweight plastic, better attachment systems for top rail accessories and optics, less weight, and compatibility with AR-15 standard lower receivers and STANAG magazines, although it will also accept XR-1 magazines. It's design is heavily inspired by the BRN-180, although major adjustments have been made to the firearm's tolerances to withstand a greater degree of pressure from the 5.56x45mm cartridge, and also to be able to function reliably well in the grit and grime of combat. In addition to this, it also adds select fire capability, and a different upper receiver frame. In military trials, this rifle has proven to be far more effective at range than the standard XR-1, and its increased modularity has been very popular among troops. All of Xoxian special forces are equipped with XR-2's, and the standard infantry is in the process of adopting the rifle. It still features its classic XR-1 paintjob.

4. XR-3
Notes:
The XR-3 is a prototype rifle being developed by the Xoxian military as a larger caliber, longer range combat rifle. This is in order to combat the threat of armored opponents, and have a higher chance of lethality with the 2.77mm Sig Fury ammunition. The XR-3 is not meant to take over the general combat role, but to be adopted by Xoxian special forces units and certain infantry units in specific circumstances requiring long range effective fire. It is an entirely Xoxian design, once again being developed by the JDG arms company. Although in its early stages of development, the XR-3 is a unique combination of innovation and historical precedent. The upper receiver is essentially an XR-2 upper that has been scaled up to the tolerances required to handle .277 Fury ammunition. It's lower receiver employs a unique and innovative system that functionally makes the XR-3 a bullpup despite its magazine being housed in front of the trigger assembly. In this system, the XR-3 strips rounds backwards out of the magazine and pulls them to the rear of the weapon before allowing the bolt to push the cartridge into the chamber. This system has proven to be reliable with testing and gives the shooter the benefits of a bullpup system, such as longer barrel length and less felt recoil, without the downside of having the magazine in a harder to reach and unfamiliar position.

The standard submachinegun for the XDF is the LUSA, with some Xoxian modifications and slight redesigns to make it more modular, reliable, and modern.
The standard light machinegun for the XDF is the Ultimax Mk.8, bought abroad and not domestically produced. Xoxia's government is looking into allocating funds to domestically produce a light machinegun so as not to rely on foreign import.
Xoxia's heavy machinegun is the KORD and the M2 Browning. Once again, Xoxia is looking into domestic production.
