History: Teku, a remote island in the North Atlantic, has long been a subject of ancient lore among followers of Kwarara. According to legend, the sea god Ruwa raised the island from the ocean’s depths as a sacred place meant only for his true believers. For centuries, Teku remained uninhabited, as it was said that anyone who attempted to settle there without practicing the local religion would mysteriously disappear, banished by Ruwa himself. Sailors and explorers who ventured too close would either be driven away by fierce storms or vanish without a trace, reinforcing the belief that the island was protected by divine forces.

Because of this, only a few devoted pilgrims ever dared to visit Teku, seeing it as a holy site, but no one stayed for long. The idea of permanently living on the island seemed impossible, as Ruwa’s wrath would fall upon anyone unfaithful to the Kwarara religion.

It wasn’t until the early 21st century, during a time of global turmoil and ecological collapse, that Ruwa’s followers saw signs that the island was ready to be inhabited. Displaced believers, fleeing the chaos of the mainland, were drawn to Teku. This time, they remained unscathed, leading them to believe that Ruwa had lifted his ban and opened the island to those who fully committed to his worship. The first settlers arrived, establishing a new theocratic nation dedicated to their god, their faith strengthened by centuries of mystery and fear surrounding the island’s divine protection.
Geography
Continent: North America
Land Area: 5,632.69 sq. km
Terrain: The terrain of Teku is as rugged and mysterious as the legends surrounding it. The island rises abruptly from the North Atlantic, its rocky coastline battered by relentless waves and surrounded by jagged cliffs. These steep cliffs form natural barriers, making access to the island difficult and treacherous, reinforcing the idea that Teku is a place protected by divine forces.
Highest Peak: Mt. Whale, 336 meters
Lowest Valley: Tidal Hollow, 9 meters
Climate: Teku, located just above a deep oceanic crack, has a unique climate influenced by the geological forces beneath it. The island's terrain is warmed from below by geothermal activity, creating a stark contrast to the icy, turbulent waters that surround it. While the land itself maintains a mild, almost pleasant warmth, the cold waves of the North Atlantic relentlessly crash against Teku’s rugged shores, making the coastal areas feel even more frigid.

The ground on Teku, especially near volcanic rock formations and geothermal vents, stays relatively warm year-round. This warmth prevents the harsh winters from being completely unbearable and provides some natural insulation to the island’s inhabitants. Patches of steam occasionally rise from fissures in the earth, further emphasizing the island’s otherworldly and sacred nature.

However, the surrounding waters remain bone-chilling, with temperatures barely rising above 2°C even in the height of summer. The contrast between the island’s warm ground and freezing waves gives Teku an air of constant tension between land and sea, as if Ruwa himself were balancing the forces of warmth and cold. Residents of Teku have adapted to these extremes, seeing the warmth of the ground as Ruwa's gift and the cold ocean as a test of their resilience and faith.

Healthcare plays a critical role in the economy as well. The government provides free healthcare services to all citizens, ensuring access to treatment for addiction and other health issues resulting from drug use. This commitment to healthcare allows the population to seek help when needed, mitigating some of the adverse effects associated with heavy drug use. By investing in healthcare, the government aims to maintain a healthy workforce, which is essential for sustaining economic activity.

The presence of torture as a means of maintaining order also impacts the economic environment. The government employs torture as a tool to control illegal activities and enforce compliance within the drug trade.
