History: | Once upon a time, a tribe of Indo-European settlers reached the territory of what would once become Idrisid and Gakhia. The settled in the southeastern Alps 4500 summers ago, a land, which they called Ṯomį̀ Pēarsas. The People there soon adopted the exonym given to them by Pre-Indo-Europeam nomads: ,,Orbins“. The People remained fairly isolated until the Roman conquest. However they were liberated in 204 a.d. by Queen Vēræna, which lead a successful rebellion against the Romans. She then rule for another 40 years with her wife Queen Swæ̀da. These 40 years are remembered a a golden age by the Robin people nowadays. This golden age marks the start of the Orbin literary tradition and is also the era in which the Orbin Kingdom had its largest extent, spanning from the source of the Danube to the Kupa in nowadays Croatia. Vēræna remains a national hero to this day. After countless long religious wars the Orbin people were christianized in the late 12th century, ultimately giving up their pagan faith. In the following 13th century the kingdom experienced a huge wave of separatism by a number of dukes and duchesses throughout the country, leading to the formation of several city states and small principalities. Due to this decentralization it was fairly easy for the Holy Roman Empire to establish themselves as the dominant force in that region. Even though the local population tried to rebel many times, the Orbin realm remained under the rule of the Holy Roman Empire. After the Napoleonic conquests and the fall of the Holy Roman Empire the area fell under Austrian Control, under which it remainde up until WW1. Up until this day German remains widely spoken as a second language by the majority of the population, as well as a minority in the northwest. After the defeat of the Central Powers two countries with an Orbin-speaking majority were founded by the Entente: Idrisid and Gakhia. Both countries experienced great economic struggles like hyperinflation and a high unemployment rate. Whilst Gakhia managed to recover in the mid-30s, Idrisid continued on to struggle until WW2 broke out. During WW2 Idrisid and Gakhia were occupied by German and Italian Forces, leading to the mass deportation of Jews, Muslims, Queer People, Sinti, Roma and political enemies, even though partisan efforts managed to save some of them. In November 1944 Idrisid and Gakhia were liberated by Soviet forces. After WW2 Idrisid and Gakhia formed a new union, which continues to exist up until this day. In the post war era, Idrisid and Gakhia was able to remain neutrality being neither part of the West nor the East. |
