History: | Around the 4th century AD, as the Roman Empire faces internal strife and external pressures, Slavic tribes begin to settle in the Pannonian Basin. By the 6th century AD, the Slavic settlers and Latin inhabitants mingle extensively. From this the Pannoniak people come to develop as they are now known, developing linguistic roots of Latin and Slavic influence. Several settlers develop discordant cultures into a unison; coming to form. The region being an economic hub, faces instability in the events of the fall of the Western Roman Empire and Germanic invasions. They establish themselves independent: relieving to neutrality amongst Europe, staying integrated within their shores. As Paganism begins to fall, several traders and missionaries of The Papal States and countless states of Ancient Greece bring around Catholicism and Orthodoxy, as these develop and thrive, the 17th century brings the expansion to an all-time halt as Protestantism arises in the North, along with Turkish influence through war and vassalization. Pannonia holds itself a stronghold against Islam and the Ottomans. By the 20th century they begin to see a rise in Communism and Marxism, forming the PSSR, through countless civil wars. |
