History: In 906 AD, Norwegian Vikings embarked on a daring journey North, which led them to the shores of a small, uncharted island later known as the Kingdom of Kranz. As soon as they stepped foot into the island, a bustling community was established and began to grow.
However, in 1412 a devastating mix of famine and plague swept through the island and wiped out the entire 63,000 person population. This left the island uninhabited, the only surviving species of animal left was the mountain goat living on the island’s tall mountain ranges. Many remnants of the original settlers are still there to this day including the very longship that first landed on the island back in the year 906 in the Vardinork National Museum.
Nearly 100 years later, in 1509, more Norwegian explorers settled on the island and the island’s population grew to where it had been. A wealthy family known as the Pire’s quickly rose to power and built & lived in the Great Kranz Palace in the island’s capital, Vardinork.
Kranz was partially owned by Norway for over 1000 years, however due to sovereignty disputes, the Kingdom of Kranz became its own independent country in 1953.

In 1680, after 171 years of the royal family being in power, the country was not in a good state with a bitter and bloody war breaking out between two sides, the Northerners and the Southerners. The people were split in two with the Royals, Nobles and the farming peasants. The war lasted for 4 years, finally ending in 1684, after a welcome truce.

As a result of the Krazic Civil War, 53% of the population was wiped out. Tensions remained high. The island’s population was still split in two, and it wasn’t until late 1849, (165 years later) that the island re-emerged as one.

There are still many factions around the nation that believe there should still be a national split. Every year, these groups come together and protest outside of the Royal Vardinork Parliament Building (RVPB) on June 16th.

As a result of the bloody Krazic War, in 1680, arguably the strangest governing system in the world was established, an Electorate Monarchy. The Electorate Monarchy was formed by the 50 founding people - each one represented on the flag by one leaf on the wreath. This included all of the remaining Royal Family and eldest sons of the 4 main Noble families. The remaining 40 were farming peasants and would come to form the first Royal Parliament of Kranz.
How the Electorate Monarchy works is as follows. Every 5th year is election year. The public has 2 votes, a family vote and a Monarch vote. The family voting pole comes first and is the most important vote. In this vote, the public can decide on a new family to rule Kranz or keep the same family. Once the family vote has been counted and decided, the Monarch vote occurs. In the Monarch vote, the public elects which member of the family is the King/Queen. They vote on this as well as voting for the mayor of their respective cities and towns.
There is no Prime Minister of Kranz - the monarchy makes all decisions and runs all the sovereignty stuff that the Prime Minister would normally do.
In 2022, Lord Christoff Shrax was voted king of Kranz for the 11th consecutive election since he was coronated in 1967 at age 17. He is the longest serving Kranzic Monarch in the country’s history.
