History: The Waterloo region in Canada seeked independence. Eventually, they declared themselves as a new nation. Canada did not recognize this and retaliated. However, the tri-city area was successful. Waterloo and Kitchener were too destroyed after the war to become the centers of a government, so Cambridge, instead, became the capital city, establishing the republic ever since.
