Thanks to a prudent foreign policy of the mother, HM The Queen Daphne III, and a major effort to modernize the armed forces, the country managed to remain neutral during the World War I. The upheavals in Europe still led to a period of crisis that characterized the first ten years of the reign of Mastino. The new sovereign was able to drive Graalstone towards a social system more equitable and modern. The claims of the workers who lost their jobs due to the closure of war factories were heard and was activated a series of initiatives to reduce the inconvenience of the poorer classes of the population. This allowed him to avert the danger of a revolution that would bring the country to destruction. In the following period Mastino ordered the AirLift Company to investigate the possibility of using airships for civil transport of passengers and goods. The factory of the Royal Family, which during the WWI built airships for the Royal Graalstone Air Force, formed the Graalstone Royal Air Line (GRAL) that began to regularly connect Graalborg with the major capitals of the neighboring states. Meanwhile, the armament factories returned to play a dominant role in the economy of Graalstone. | 1946 - 1985 d.C. - King Elijah II Born in 1921, Elijah II took over the leadership of the Kingdom April 26, 1946 following the abdication of his father HM Mastino VI. In that period Graalstone was again on the brink of civil war, divided between those who wanted to participate in WWII and who chose to side with The King in favor of neutrality. The two factions had plunged the country into chaos and since HM Mastino VI was clearly involved with the neutralist, He preferred to leave the kingdom to his son who had remained on positions less biased. HM King Elijah II did everything in order to pacify the spirits and, not without difficulty, managed to bring together the breakaway territories to the motherland. Its success was due to a combination of actions of force and lengthy negotiations with the secessionists. The country slowly returned to normal and the companies returned to prosper. The economic boom that swept through Europe in the sixties, took its beneficial effects on the life of the population of Graalstone. Thanks to the great availability of funds, the government of HM Elijah II was able to launch a number of projects in different fields. The universities of the country opened research laboratories in close collaboration with industry, was launched a program of space research that gave impetus to the development of new companies in the electronics, mechanical, chemical and design. The Royal Family founded a new company, Synthetic Intelligence Technologies (SIT) - now known as SyN-Tech - for the development of electronic systems with a focus on microprocessors and artificial intelligence. His sudden death, only 64 years, because of a plane crash during a flight transfer October 10, 1985, fueled the suspicions of an international conspiracy that saw some countries hostile to the kingdom for aggressive economic policies of the sovereign. The suspects were never confirmed, but some terrorist organizations were discovered and eliminated. |
| 1985 - King Mastino VII In spite of the tragic events that led to the succession of his father on the throne of Graalstone, Mastino VII, the first of seven children, is a sovereign extremely well-liked by the entire population. In April 2015, following the sudden death of Princess Annes III, sovereign of Noorlande and his first cousin, he inherited the title of Prince of Noorlande as the only possible successor and incorporates the Princedom to the territories of the kingdom. Only a month later, following the abdication of Prince Olavius, the interim government promotes a local referendum which requires the population of Eesthold to choose between establishment in the republic and the annexation to the kingdom of Graalstone. The Princedom of Eesthold becomes the a district of the kingdom with 90 percent of the votes. |
