The Democratic Union of Petoria

previously known as New Pretoria, South Africa,

Is a peaceful, social Democratic nation, 

following the path of Botswana and it’s

stability, anti-corruption laws, and literacy rates.

 
 Once apart of British colonial territory

now a flourishing nation established 

between South Africa and Botswana.

Allowed to exist under the African Union

Peace Clause. It gained independence 

as the outcome of border skirmishes 

and treaties between the democratic 

government of Botswana and the

authoritarian government of

South Africa. The people were allowed

to establish the Petoria National Military (PNM),

Petoria National Airforce (PNA), and establish

It’s very own constitution, protecting it’s people

and their rights.

 On June 23rd, 2006, now-President Oppenheimer 

was Head of Defense for then-President 

Thabo Mbeki of South Africa. Oppenheimer 

recognized the instability caused by consistent 

soldier losses in skirmishes with Botswana in

New Pretoria. Both leaders then agreed to

setup a city-state under no nations control, led by

it’s population. Botswana agreed and the border

skirmishes ended. New Pretoria was a city-state

from 2006-2023, without any problems they were

allowed to flourish through trade and diplomacy.

 After a brief failed run for the South African 

Presidency, Oppenheimer left for New Pretoria 

and began constructing a foundation for a 

democratic nation, renaming it Petoria, and 

applied for African Union Protection Alliance,

after becoming the acting governor of the city-state.

He officially became the first president of the 

country after it transitioned from just an independent 

state to a Democratic Union led by a congress 

elected by the people.
