History

Amistan, a nation created in 1763 as a union colony of Spain, France, and the UK following the Seven Years War, gained its independence in 1864 and became the democratic Republic of Amistan. Over the next six decades, it developed into one of the largest global economies. However, the Great Depression of 1929 struck, causing a severe economic crisis that devastated the country and left its economy in ruins. This crisis fueled the growth of nationalism, with several nationalist groups emerging, notably the Amistan Democratic Party. Due to the economic and social problems that plagued the country, Amistan remained neutral during World War 2. After the war, the country's economic state did not improve, and by the late 1950s, the Republic of Amistan became increasingly corrupt and reliant on military aid from the Western Bloc to counter the spread of communism. In 1962, the Amistan Democratic Party won a Supermajority in congress, enabling the passage of the National Security Act of 1963. This law established the Armed Forces of Amistan and restricted civil liberties, effectively transforming the country into a military dictatorship led by a man named John Kirch. Subsequently, insurgent opposition groups emerged within the country to oppose the military regime. In 1969, a military coup took place, resulting in the assassination of John Kirch, and other high-ranking officials of government. It was later revealed that a faction within the military, along with some members of the Amistan Democratic Party, had orchestrated the coup and seized power. The country's destabilization led to 15 out of the 38 provinces of Amistan to rebel and succeed from the rest of the country, sparking the Amistan Civil War. These groups united to form the communist Democratic Republic of Amistan (DRA) and received support from the Eastern Bloc. The war divided Amistan into East Amistan (DRA) and West Amistan (Republic of Amistan). Between 1970 and 1973, both sides would experience significant military growth, with an additional 1.75 million civilians drafted into the war on both sides. With heavy support from the their allies, the 2 sides became some of the biggest militaries in the world. However, the war remained at a standstill until 1983 when West Amistan launched Operation Python, aiming to purge political enemies. This operation resulted in the death or displacement of over 250,000 people, prompting East Amistan to break the stalemate and advance 130 miles towards Northridge, the capital of West Amistan. By 1985, the war had caused almost 3 million casualties, and East Amistan had gained small increments of territory, gradually approaching Northridge. The would continue to be a standstill with both sides launching large offensives but making minor territorial gains. This would change in 1991 when the Eastern Bloc collapse bringing military aid to East Amistan to a halt. The Republic of Amistan launched an offensive with overwhelming success as within 3 weeks, the Democratic Republic of Amistan had fallen ending the civil war. The Amistan military government formed a regime known as the Federal Provisional Military Authority in the newly occupied East Amistan, which would begin a period of terror in East Amistan. Hundreds of thousands of people who were suspected to be working for the former communist government were detained by the military and were tortured and executed causing what would be known as the Amistan refugee crisis. In 1994 both sides formally reunited into the Amistan we know today as the Federal Republic of Amistan. The first election was held in on March 5th of 1994 which and considered to be fraudulent as the ADP won 567 seats out of the total of 700. The country would have federal elections every 2 years to decide Congress and presidential elections every four years. The ADP would continue to always dominate Amistan politics for the next 90 years as the ruling party of the country. The foundation of democracy in the country continues to be shaky the military continues to have a strong grip on power within the country.

The first military forces of Amistan were formed shortly after formation of Amistan as colony a long time ago. It served as a colonial force meant to keep the security and suppress any major rebellions that would happen. In 1834, during the national protest for independence, Colonial Forces opened fire on a peaceful crowed of 50,000 people brutally killing 738 people. The event kickstarted a short war for independence which lasted 5 months before 120,000 rebel solders surrounded the remaining 3000 colonial solders in what came to be known as the siege of Northridge. The rebel forces are consideded to be some of foundations for the first political parties in Amistan. Several rebel armies fought together for independence and the biggest of them were the Nationalist Army which is now the Nationalist Party, the National Republican Army which is now the National Republican Party, and the Eastern Army which is now the Christian Democratic Union. Following the nation’s independence in 1835, the National Police was the official defense force of the country although most of rebel armies turned into paramilitaries which were the most powerful military forces in the country. In 1861, the Nationalist Army with 70,000 solders invaded the newly independent country of Adania. The invasion lasted 2 weeks as country didn’t have a military force at the time and Nationalist forces quickly controlled the entire country. In 1862 the Republic of Amistan Congress voted to annex Adania as a province of Amistan
