A mysterious, ancient & highly advanced kingdom in the Altai Mountains of Mongolia. Though tiny, it has managed to survive due to its extreme isolation and, some say, the mystical powers of its long-lived, ever-youthful princess Ekaterina of the Kalmyks. Ludicrous, perhaps, but still she is worshiped as a goddess within her snowbound kingdom. ~~ National Anthem Message to Trespassers

Moya - the capital, this is the oldest city of Altai Kalmyk. It is said to be the birthplace of the Blessed Goddess (the Immortal Princess). It rests atop the highest peak of the mountain range in Mongolia. Only Kalmyk & Delvian folks live here, though many others from throughout the kingdom and beyond visit.

Delvia - the religious center of Altai. Adherents to the official religion of the kingdom, the Delvian Seek, make pilgrimages to this holy city. Most who practice the faith are Delvians or Kalmyks, with the alien culture having merged with the Kalmyk culture long before the war with the Luxan nation and the arrival of Hynerian refugee ships. It is said that the merge occurred in Ekaterina's original time, with the Delvians recognizing her power and accepting her as their goddess to replace the one they lost by travelling so far and getting stuck on Orbis. As a result, Delvia is the second-oldest city in the nation, with visits multiple times a year by the reclusive Princess Ekaterina behind the closed doors the Delvian temples. None outside of a select few know what goes on there, whether Ekaterina is using her power to keep the Delvian magic flowing or if Delvian magic is keeping Ekaterina ever-youthful and powerful. Other faiths hosted include Tibetan Buddhism and, among a very small percentage of the population, Jediism. Offensive use of the Force is strictly prohibited in peacetime and closely monitored by the local chapter of the Jedi High Council that makes its home in this city.

Nebari - party central of Altai, standing in stark contrast to the devout seriousness and serenity of Delvia. It is located within a large, lush mountain valley next to the largest lake of the Altai Mountains, Qujaga Lake. Its pleasant climate is conducive to the hedonistic ways of the locals, including the Nebari aliens, who refuse to live anywhere else. Most soldiers prefer to be stationed here as a result.

Luxan Territories - home of the proud, honorable, and fearless Luxan alien warrior race, this city on the plains is actually a coalition of smaller villages that count as one city for official Altaian purposes. There used to be a separate Luxan nation, but it was absorbed into Altai following the conclusion of a long, drawn out conflict between the two nations over religious differences (Delvian Seek vs. Oricans). The Orican religion is still popular within the Luxan territories, as its most skilled adherents are capable of mystical feats on par with those who practice the Delvian Seek. The true strength of the Luxan people, however, lies in their ability to enter a feral state called hyper-rage. Thus, Luxan warriors are a prized part of the Altai armed forces, though they are only ever stationed within the Luxan Territories when not deployed to war. Their true capital and semi-independent governing leaders shift around from village to village, seemingly at random, for security purposes.

Bajor - Giant Waterfall (Lasuma Falls) plus Alpine Lake Valley (Tempasa Lake Valley); sits at the source of the Glyrhond River.

Port of Tornaga - Seaside port.

Meris'qua'noa = Maris qua nos = "Of the sea, as we." - Underwater city connected to Tornaga inhabited by Noa'popali = Nos populi = "We of the people." The merpeople there speak Latin, but it's a form of Latin that has evolved through the ages into a modern, still-living tongue. The Elves remember when Latin was spoken by mankind and have therefore offered to translate for the people of Altai, particularly the traders of Tornaga.

Tengri - An ancient floating city that has allied itself with Altai Kalmyk. Nothing is known to the public about it except that it's inhabited by winged beings. Altai has worked with the winged people of Tengri to launch a space station called Modun.

Modun - A space station in near-Orbis orbit that will carry Altai's interests to the stars. It was named after The World Tree in Mongolian mythology and, much like its mythical namesake, Modun connects the heavens and earth. It houses diplomats from around the galaxy as well as serves as a hub for interplanetary trade with alien races. Thanks to wormhole technology, interstellar space travel is possible. Finally, after eons spent confined to Orbis, the mysterious leader of Altai Kalmyk can reach for the heavens and beyond with her people. Who knows what glorious, wondrous adventures await Ekaterina beyond Orbis?

Description:Cities continued:

Hyneria - highly technological home of the Hynerians within the Altai mountains. The elves joke that they are dwarves; however, despite being short in stature and ruled by a "king" (Dominar Rygel XVI), these aliens are not dwarves. Nor are they gnomes, despite being short in stature and extremely adept at technology, so stop making those jokes, too! Long ago, the Hynerian Empire stretched across the galaxy, spanning four primary homeworlds & 600 billion subjects, but some sort of "star war" wiped them out, so the survivors accepted asylum here -- in fact, Hynerian ships carried all sorts of aliens to Altai, including the easy-going, hedonistic Nebari. The Hynerian ships were used to carve a home for themselves inside the mountains, then disassembled into raw materials and smaller technologies that still help people move around the expansive, multi-level, cavernous city today. Perhaps the Jedi know what happened to the great Hynerian Empire, but neither they nor the Hynerians are talking. Today, they are responsible for most of the industry in Altai, though vestiges of pre-Hynerian industry can be seen throughout the kingdom. Although Uranium mining was previously banned in the kingdom, recent advances in Hynerian technology have made it safer than ever. Because they are located within the mountains, they are almost completely reliant upon the Altaian government for food (and they have three stomachs each, so it's a lot of food). Just don't give them any candy!

Endor and Kelethin - nicknamed "The Twin Cities," this bustling arboreal town was the home of the Ewoks until Ekaterina sent the Snow Elves to live there following a peace agreement that stopped their raids. The Ewoks welcomed the former mountain bandits with open arms, granting them a piece of the city to call their own. Ewoks live in Endor while Snow Elves live in Kelethin, but recently the Elvish Ice Queen seized control of both twin cities for herself. Her revolution was bloodless and her dictatorship benevolent, but it is still closely monitored by Ekaterina. Only Ekaterina & the elves know what sin got the Snow Elves banished from the paradise of Felwithe, forcing them to wander the frozen wastelands for all eternity until they were granted amnesty by Ekaterina.

Ferenginar - this city's riverside location at the base of the mountains makes it the perfect trading post. Originally called "Celladoore" & founded by ambitious Snow Elves looking to expand their territory beyond Kelethin, the Ferengi took it over when wormhole technology and Ekaterina allowed them to settle here (as a diplomatic counter-move against the unauthorized Snow Elves). It's mostly populated by traders on their way to the rest of Altai or other nations.

Cardassia - nicknamed "Lavatown" due to its extreme heat & proximity to lava pits; Cardassians are reptilian thus require heat. Focus on military using Hynerian tech.

Bajor - peaceful farmers & traders who practice the Delvian Seek.
Average Yearly Income:$134.18
GDP per Capita:$842.31
Industries:Moya - Traditionally just oil and iron, with the advent of the Steel Age and the arrival of a famous sword maker from a distant land, came steel. That steel mostly went into warfare, particularly high quality katanas, but there were some city improvements as well.

Delvia - Originally, their only industry was that of food production, but trading with Moya led to an agreement to build oil refineries throughout the city in ages past. Most of those old refineries have since been converted to aluminum to help build city improvements.

Nebari - the entertainment industry is huge in Nebari, from the Altai Irves Baseball Stadium (greatly improved when it was moved from snowy Moya to sunny Nebari), to the numerous modern shopping malls that are a wonder to behold and even more of a wonder to shop in, to the bustling nightclubs. This focus on entertainment has led to little other industry, but the bankers are happy at least.

Luxan Territories - steel and iron rule in the centuries-old warrior culture of the Luxans, with modern munitions production having become a priority to them in the last decade as well. However, as they pride themselves on self-sufficiency, they make use of their arable farmland as well.

Hyneria - Hynerians are known for their advanced alien technology and they have put that into making a truly modern city inside the mountains, in everything: transportation, entertainment, warfare, farming, etc. This is where the tanks are made in Altai, but the Hynerians have also partnered with another diminutive race, the Ewoks, to design and operate aircraft -- as one could guess, the cockpits are very small. There exists a hydroponic farm deep in the bowels of Hyneria, but it's only used to grow traditional Hynerian delicacies, most of which are unpalatable to others or downright toxic. It's best to avoid these when shopping in the city's supermarket.

Endor and Kelethin - the assembly of aircraft is a big part of this city's, as Ewoks tend to like anything that can go fast and fly. Two defunct vine&moss-covered stadiums, now used as trading hubs, are now used for either trading or Ewok games -- or both at the same time. As a result, it's best to keep a lookout for random flying objects in the twin cities.

Ferenginar - "If you can't sell it in Cella, you can't sell it anywhere" the old saying goes, referencing the city's original name, now referring to the Cella District run by Snow Elves. Trade is everywhere, with two stadium-sized general marketplaces serving as the hubs of both aboveboard and black market transactions, though there are many shopping malls and supermarkets for more specialized needs. Banned or restricted materials like uranium can be found here, siphoned from the earth using stolen Hynerian technology.

Cardassia - war machine manufacturers, their closest ties are with Hyneria.

Bajor - an industrious people who do much trading with Ferenginar.

Meris'qua'noa, Tengri, etc.: See Terrain.
History:Altai Kalmyk's armed forces consist mainly of martial artists (swordsmen), mystics (able to channel battle magics or healing powers thanks to either the Delvian Goddess Ekaterina or adherence to Orican spiritualism), and scouts armed with long range sniper rifles. There also exists a small, elite unit of Jedi, but it only participates in defensive battles, assisting to defend the homeland. Hynerian Tanks support both Altai's ground troops and aircraft.

About 40% of all Altai Kalmyk's armed forces come from the Luxan Territories. Unlike most in Altai Kalmyk, the somewhat mercenary Luxan warriors who assist the official Altai Kalmyk army have no qualms about arming their soldiers with all manner of firearms. They relish the chance to prove themselves in battle by invading other nations, though the peaceful nature of Altai Kalmyk means they rarely get the chance to see real armed conflict.

Any raider thinking Bajor is a pushover is in for a rude awakening, as these peaceful people are adept at guerrilla warfare and too stubborn to ever give up in the face of an occupation. They know of many local caves loaded with supplies for just such an occasion.

In addition, though not a formal part of the military forces, most of Altai's citizenry -- including women and children -- is militarized to some extent, with swordsmanship and martial arts as much a part of the culture as civic responsibility, religion, farming, and trading. Invading nations are often surprised by just how much resistance they meet among the stubborn Kalmyks (and various aliens and elves).
