History: Formed in 33 AD as an Empire led by the Apostles of Christ. The Empire was at this time known as the Empire of Christ. By 643 AD, the Emperor Romanos V of Lydia conquered all of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. In 1054 AD, the Great Schism divided East and West. The Orthodox remained in the East, the Catholic remained in the West. The Holy Roman Empire to the West Ruled majority of Europe, whilst the Holy Orthodox Empire controlled the entirety of Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. After the various Goth and Arab invasions, the Catholic led Holy Roman Empire collapsed. In 1453 AD, the Orthodox to the East had suffered a similar defeat after being conquered by the Islamic invaders. During this time, the Orthodox Christians of Eastern Europe were enslaved and persecuted for nearly 400 years. In 1821 AD, the Balkans united in a pan-Orthodox allegiance along with the Russian Empire to liberate Greece and Asia Minor from Islamic rule. Following the 'Great Liberation' of Eastern Europe from Islamic rule, the Orthodox Empire united under the rulership of the Russian Tsar Nicholas I. Later on, the Orthodox further united to conquer and comprise of Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Georgia, Belarus, Armenia, Ethiopia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Northern Egypt, and Jordan. By 1925, the Empire had become the largest nation on the planet. Due to the ethnically diverse population, there was outcry due to Russian Tsardom having majority control over the empire. After brief civil wars and protests from 1933 to 1937, the Tsar declared that his title to be only symbolic of the nation's history, and that the nation would form a democratic republic comprised of various semi-autonomous regions. The Tsar also declared that the original title of Emperor would be brought back. In 1963, Emperor (Tsar) Nicholas I and his entire family were killed in a missile strike hitting the Imperial Palace in Constantinople by Islamic terrorist group 'Sons of Islam'. On October 23rd, a state of emergency was declared and Prime Minister Minas Karrelis declared war against Islam fundamentalist groups. The Prime Minister also declared that blood relatives of the ancient Palaiologos Dynasty would be placed officially as ruling Monarchs, bringing in Empress Irene III Palaiologos as the new leader of the Empire. In 1965, Islamic terrorists were eradicated and Islam as a religion was outlawed within the Empire. In 2021, Empress Irene died at 91 after battling illnesses due to old age. In March of 2021, Spyridon XVII Palaiologos, Empress Irene's grandson, became Emperor at the young age of 18.
