After the Vegan Socialist Party’s (VSP) takeover of America, Ronald Ulysses Swanson arranged a secession attempt to uphold his traditional American beliefs, that was initially peaceful. However, the VSP refused to allow anyone to practice the consumption of animal products or utilize a free market. The reaction from the VSP towards the Swanson rebellion was violent, and it erupted into war.
The VSP sent a task force of 2000 troops to defeat the Swanson rebellion, which at the time was made up primarily of the Swanson brothers and John Swanson, Ronald Swanson’s son, coming to only about 50 people. The Swansons fought bravely, and the aggressing VSP forces broke “like glass,” as Ronald Swanson put it.
Although the Swansons did put up a valiant effort, credit must be given to the VSP for arranging their own defeat, as they refused to use firearms because they, “promote ideals of traditional masculinity and hurt my shoulder,” as the VSP’s General of the Army stated in an interview. Now the Swansons also refused to use firearms, or even any sort of weapon at all, because the believed that they should fight the enemy on even terms.
The Swansons miraculously suffered almost zero casualties, as the VSP used baseball bats, cement milkshakes, and Molotov Cocktails as weaponry. The Swansons’ only casualty was James Cotkin, who suffered a broken wrist from punching too hard, while the VSP’s forces were entirely destroyed.
As the VSP prepared to strike again in larger numbers, the Swansons as well grew, and understanding the threat that the Swansons posed, the VSP agreed to cede land to them and agreed not to interfere with the newly formed Sovereign Swanson States. After the formation and establishment of the foundation to the new nation, Ronald Swanson retired to his cabin in an undisclosed location in the woods, leaving his son John Swanson in charge. |

This nation is on primarily marshland, as the VSP did not want to let the Swansons develop. However, the hardiness of a Swanson knows no bounds, and such, the land has been wrought by the hands of man into land habitable to even the weakest child. Food is plentiful, the soil is firm enough to hold buildings, even immerse structures, and the wood from the trees is of significantly higher quality than many others, this in particular is Ronald Swanson’s favorite part of the land. The Sovereign Swanson States have intent to expand, likely by purchasing territory from nearby states. |

This led to the creation of a cheap yet highly effective military with branches privately owned and operated by arms manufacturers under the guidance of the Chairsitter. The military however, is strictly limited to defense operations only. |
