I found something that gave me fright.

To get the tools that I did need.
But when I reached my ‘sharp things’ drawer,
The tools I needed were no more!

 

I ran to get the telephone,
As on this day, I was alone.
I dialed numbers - 9, 1, 1, 
Regarding answers, there were none.

 

I ran back out to check the bin.
Gladly, the motiman was in.
I tried to dump the creature out - 
But then, I heard a small, sad shout.

 

“Please don’t dump me out, I cry -
If you do, I’ll surely die!”
The cries were shrill - I could not hear,
So I leaned closer with my ear.

 

“Don’t dump me out,” the creature said,
“Or I will certainly be dead!”
“You will?” I said, “Oh, poor, poor you - 
‘Cause that’s exactly what I’ll do!”

 

The creature could not say a word.
Even so, it would not be heard.
The creature fell and made a splat
And that’s, reader, the end of that.
