Discord: Ray3501#0305. I frequently hang out at SK Network. And yes, Jebediah has ridden on a dragon before. Don't ask. And yes, all Kerbals have the surname "Kerman." Don't ask, either, or you'll get stuffed into one of those spacesuits.

Space tourism and research has slowly become a profitable industry. In addition to the government-funded space stations, private space stations popped up around the Low Orbis Orbit. Most of the stations are hotels, but some are built for permanent residence. Most of the permanent residential stations are built in the aftermath of the wars that ravaged much of Orbis. The Ministry of Commerce estimates that there are 12 research stations, 32 space hotels and 44 space habitats, housing 107,444 people of all ethnicities. Space affairs are handled by the Ministry of Aerospace, which is a sub-ministry of the Commerce.
Space travel, however, remains experimental, as passengers are subject to intense G-force into and from orbit. The weightlessness felt in space is in fact the person moving so fast that the planet pulls the person around the planet, rather than into a planet; as such, passengers may feel lost in space.
Also, not all spacecrafts are built equal, leading to grisly reports of part breakage or mid-flight malfunctions (or, in unusual cases, cockpit fire). There are also allegations of poor customer services. All of which was only natural, for space remains a wild frontier. Best case scenario, the passengers are merely prevented from reaching or returning from space, and can be rescued; worse case scenario, the passengers are doomed to the reentry fire or oxygen starvation.
In 2012, George Kimmel Kerman, in his book The Desert, exposed the poor treatment of employees as well as the poor quality of service within the commercial aerospace industry. The nation, including Prime Minster Kerbollo Kerman, is in an uproar. Kerman has subsequently order a parliamentary investigation into this matter.
As of February 3, 2013, the armed force includes 272,000 (combat, armored crew, and support) active personnel in the marine corp, 252,480 (combat and support) in the air force, and 49,000 (combat and support) in the water navy. In addition, there are 302,000 reserve personnel for the marine corp, 40,080 for the air force, and 224,000 for the navy.
Finally, 403 Kerbonauts are currently in the space program. The space program performs scientific experiments, explore new worlds (for now, unmanned drones), and attempts to commercialize the Low Orbis Orbit (LOO), but also perform classified objectives. As of February 3, 2013, there are 2 space stations in orbit, housing 16 astronauts from around the world, mostly from Seven Kingdoms. Kethane Space Program is currently working to get Orbisians beyond Orbis and perhaps Orbis I by 2030.
