I try to record all updates to the game here. Each changelog post should have a relevant forum post, so head there for discussion: Announcements
09/02/2020 - Project Name Changes |
---|
This is just a notice that the City Planning and Advanced City Planning projects have been renamed to Urban Planning and Advanced Urban Planning respectively. This is purely a name change, and nothing else about the projects has changed. Posted by Alex 09/02/2020 09:31 pm |

08/28/2020 - Discord Integration |
We have released a Discord bridge integration onto the live server. In the lower right corner of your webpage, you will see a Discord icon overlay. Clicking this will popup a Discord window where you can read and chat with users in the official Politics & War Discord server. This tool can be slow and is certainly not perfect, but we are hopeful it will encourage more players to participate in Discord. There is a high correlation between player retention and players who use Discord, and we are hoping that this will help increase our player retention rate. For more information, here's a brief video of me talking through this change: Posted by Alex 08/28/2020 09:45 pm |
08/14/2020 - Temporary Reinstatement of Beige, Tank Steel Cost Reduced, Nation Score Formula Adjusted |
Hi everyone, Quick update that the changes announced yesterday were pushed to the live server about 30 minutes ago. Included in these changes were: • Beige has been temporarily reinstated as it was before. This is a temporary measure as we test some alternatives on the test server, and ultimately will be replaced with another system. • Tanks' steel cost has been reduced from 1 Steel each to 0.5 Steel each. Everyone with Tanks before the change received 0.5 Steel per Tank to their nation inventory. • The nation score formula has been tweaked slightly to increase the amount of score that Tanks, Ships, and Aircraft add. Tank score increased from 0.009 to 0.025 each, Aircraft score increased from 0.02 to 0.03 each, and Ship score increased from 0.75 to 1 each. You can read more about these changes on the forum here: https://forum.politicsandwar.com/index.php?/topic/29676-8142020-beige-tank-cost-and-military-score-changes-now-live/ On another quick note, I fixed an issue that was causing some (primarily older, larger) nations' stats to not be recorded on a daily basis. This issue has unfortunately been around since May 29 of this year, so there is quite a bit of data missing for some nations. It should start recording properly again at the next daily update. I also tweaked the nation score graph display for nations with extensive score histories. It is now set to show the most recent 180 days of recorded scores, and then after that it will only show (randomly chosen) 1 in 5 scores. This reduces the number of data points the graph is trying to display, which eases the load on the server and renders the page faster. This improvement really only affects nations with long score histories. Posted by Alex 08/14/2020 09:30 pm |
08/01/2020 - 6th Anniversary, Credit Values Increased |
Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a great start to the new month. Hopefully you saw the monthly Credit limit reset changelog post below (if not, scroll down and check that out.) This is just a quick addendum about a couple of changes. It's Politics and War's 6th Anniversary. Where does the time go? 6 years ago we launched P&W on August 5, 2014 after around a year in development. Of course, we've still be working on and adding content to the game since! Each year we've offered a limited edition anniversary package, and this year is no different. For 1 Credit you can get a bunch of cool items, including: $6,000,000 for your nation (does not count against your monthly Credit limit), a limited edition nation award, a limited edition nation achievement, a limited edition nation flag, and 30 days of VIP. This great offer only lasts until August 12, and you can take advantage of it here: https://politicsandwar.com/donate/anniversary/ Also, Credits are now redeemable for $20,000,000 directly (instead of $15,000,000 each previously.) On the market, Credits are going for closer to $30,000,000 so this adjustment was just to keep things more in-line with actual values. The amount of Food you can redeem a Credit for has increased as well, from 50,000 to 150,000. This puts the value of Food (market price x quantity) more in-line with the other resources you can redeem a Credit for as well. To buy Credits or use them to get money for your nation, resources for your nation, or a whole bunch of other perks and benefits, check out the Donate page here: https://politicsandwar.com/donate/ Posted by Alex 08/01/2020 02:38 pm |
