10/28/2020 - Rapid Expansion Domestic Policy |
A new domestic policy, Rapid Expansion, has been added. If your nation chooses the domestic policy of Rapid Expansion, you will get a 5% discount on all land purchases. You can edit your Domestic Policy on the Nation Edit page. Note: you can only change your domestic policy once every 5 days. We have also improved the display so that you will see a more detailed description of each policy (as well as War Policies) when you cycle through the options. Here is an example screenshot of that: ![]() Posted by Alex 10/28/2020 01:58 am |

10/04/2020 - A Video About Donation Limits and the History of P&W |
Hi everyone, This is less of a game update, and more of a personal note about the game from me to you all. First, I want to say thank you to everyone playing Politics & War. You all (the community) are what really makes the game great. I'm grateful to have you all here. I do want to formally announce that I have been able to use some of the funds generated from donations to hire a part-time developer for Politics & War. If you haven't noticed, we've had a lot of quality-of-life changes in the past few weeks, and they are all thanks to her. I don't want to set anyone's expectations too high, as she doesn't have a super in-depth knowledge of P&W's mechanics yet, but she is certainly a great programmer (better than me!) I've also been investing a lot of the donations from the game into advertising. While I've been experimenting with this for some time, I just want everyone to know that I am working on recruiting more players, as I think it creates a better gameplay experience when we have a larger and more diverse playerbase. The new “rate the game” popups have also been helpful in collecting feedback on the game more directly, and over time we will be able to track average ratings to see what is and isn't working, and get a more objective measure for how different changes to gameplay are impacting the overall player experience. My hope is that by collecting this additional data we will be able to better shape the direction of the game. Lastly, I recorded a video of me talking to you all to tell you a bit about the history of Politics and War, as well as a bit about the donation limits being reset on the first of the month. Originally I had thought that maybe I could record a video to go along with the monthly resets, but I sent out a random survey to 10% of the players and got some really good feedback on the video below. I think what would be better is to have me record a video each month talking about what progress we've made to the game, and what is coming soon, instead of trying to record one video and recycle it each month. In a nutshell, I am working hard to make the game even better and more fun for everyone. If you're interested in learning more about the history of Politics and War, a little about me and why I created it, as well as why we have donation limits each month, please check out the video below: Posted by Alex 10/04/2020 11:42 pm |
