Today, the Munich Mayoral Election has officially started. There are 5 main candidates. But none of these candidates are the current Mayor, Albert Schneider. Although he tried getting nominated by his party, the Munich Economic Part (MEP), he wasn't even one of the top picks. But anyway, here are the candidates, their party, and their approval rating:

  • Martin Johann, 56.7%, Conservative Germanic Party (CGP)
  • Adelbert von Cristion, 59.8%, Eastern Munich Party (EMP)
  • Eugene Neumann, 47.1%, Western Munich Party (WMP)
  • Frederick von Hagen, 63.5%, Munich Economic Party (MEP)
  • Wilhelm Ferdinand, 50.3%, Munich Peoples Party (MPP)

Despite these 5 being the most important and major candidates, there are still other candidates. There are about 7 more candidates to be exact. Despite each party only able to nominate one candidate, the Munich Industrial Party (MIP) nominated 2 candidates due to them not being able to decide on one. The list of other candidates includes:

  •  Otto Meyer, the former Duke of Greater Munich and held the title of Mayor of Munich from 1980 to 1988 running for the Munich Militaristic Party (MMP) born in 1942.
  •  Anneke Achterburg, a Dutch immigrant from Amsterdam who was the Secretary of Immigration and Tourism for the city of Augsburg between 1994 and 2007 before becoming the Head Secretary of Immigration and Tourism for the city of Munich from 2010 to 2018 running for the Munich Immigrant Party (MIMP) born in 1959.
  • Ferdinand von Hagen, the former commander of the army from 1999 and 2015 before he became the Mayor of Martinburg in 2018 and became Secretary of Law for the city of Munich after his term as mayor ended in 2022 running for the Munich Law Enforcement Party (MLEP)
  • Albert Braun, the former Munich National Court Judge from 1967 to 1995 before becoming the Secretary of Law and Peace for the province of Greater Munich holding that position between 1998 and 2011 running for the Munich Conservative Party (MCP) born in 1944.
  • Leopold Zimmerman, the former Secretary of Industry for the city of Munich between 1994 and 2023 running for the Munich Industrial Party (MIP) born in 1964.
  • Berthold Fischer, former CEO and founder of Fischer Industries from 1988 and 2015 he became Mayor of Greater Neumann Valley City in 2016 before resigning in 2020 due to catching Covid for the fourth time, he then later became the Head Secretary of Industry for the city of Munich in 2022 running for the Munich Industrial Party (MIP) born in 1963.

So, now that we know the candidates, the winner will be revealed on July 10th of this year.
