Lindgren Tuesday, as the incumbent stepped down from the race, claiming that he had "served a long and fulfilling public responsibility by representing the third EC district," and how he now planned to "possible return to the General Counsel, to still serve the people, while supporting it as a small business owner."

The announcement came as a surprise to most of the nation, especially for residents of The Sütheim, whom are represented by Lindgren. With this announcement, August B. Lindgren becomes the most likely to win the election, when results are announced of the election in the coming future. With his announcement, it becomes extremely likely that The Sütheim will see a Socialist representative for the first time in twenty-one years, as the capital city and the island that it lay on solely elected Independent, Labour, and Progressive EC members.

At the end of his press conference, the incumbent Head Councilman said that he gave his full support to his same-named counterpart, and said that he trusted the will of the people to go through and choose the fine candidate before him.
