The Labour Party Chairman officially announced today that the 15% threshold of party members to trigger a leadership election had been met.

In his speech, he announced that only one challenger had nominated himself - Harold Saxon. This means the contest will be a one against one battle between Saxon and Daniel.

Harold Saxon made a statement shortly after:

"We can already see the momentum of change. Let's ensure we can shape a better Gwlad Emrys.

This country has been sick,

this country needs healing,

this country needs medicine

In fact I'd go so far as to say that, what this country really needs, right now, is a Doctor."

The President made this statement after the news:

"While of course the news is regrettable I still believe we have made significant headway in developing this country. Of course there has been mistakes but I believe a good leader is someone who throws themselves out of their comfort zone and tackles the major issues. That is who I am"

The election will take place in 12 days time with a new Labour Leader announced shortly afterwards.

It is unclear whether Martin ap Daniel will resign as President if he loses the Labour Leadership.
