The President has survived a Motion of No Confidence in the Council of Local Authorities.

The Social Party tabled the motion in the house calling on the "incompetent" President to resign.

However, only 46 of the 98 members voted No Confidence (47%) meaning the President is safe from a similar challenge for at least 6 months.

The Pound has rallied slightly following the vote, rising from 0.01666 to 0.01723 (+3.4%)

However the Social Party released the following statement after the result:

"We maintain our belief that the President should resign immediately and hand the country to a President that can demonstrate competency with the economy.

The people will not thank the President for struggling to hold on to power".

The Sawhist Party, who do not hold any seats in the Council of Local Authorities, said they were "relieved" by the result:

"The last thing we need at this time is an election while the economy is collapsing. I am relieved that the independents and the Green party seats in the house voted with the government so we can build some stability".
