In a busy week, multiple local authorities across Dyfed have passed infrastructure plans in their area, with the backing of the Dyfed Parliament. The full list follows:

  1. Caerdydd Central  - plans for a full scale metro for the city, using rail, buses and trams. Full details later in article.
  2. Dyfed West and Hafren Bay - formation of a Dyfed West Bus Service, extending west past the Phase 1 rail route to connect towns in Dyfed West
  3. Dyfed North - Plans for a bridge connecting Caer y Glan with Ynys y Lan, replacing the twice daily ferry service
  4. Caerdydd Eastern - Shuttle Bus Service connecting Newport Train Station (to be built in Phase 1 Rail) and the Severn Ferry Service to Lloegr

Caerdydd Central Metro

The Council has announced plans for a metro service in the city, connecting a variety of new Bus, Rail and Tram routes. We await the full plans in the next 4-6 weeks.

The Dyfed Assembly has also passed proposals for a North Dyfed Motorway, connection Ynys y Lan with the Lloegr Border. The plans are expected to be released and a consultation to begin in the next 3 weeks.

This comes as work on Phase 1 of the South Dyfed Rail link begins in Caerdydd with construction starting on a central station for the service.
