After nearly a decade of no contact, the United German Federation has made contact again with the international community. Many things have changed in the nation, yet, many things remain the same. Let us take a look at what has been altered and what remains alike.

The Kaiser, Jayren Gallec

Entering his 21st year as Kaiser of the UGF, Jayren Gallec remains ever-popular within the nation. At 73 years of age, the former war hero has become a hero of the people.

A rare photo of the Kaiser

Gallec’s reign has been characterized by many diplomatic, political, and economic successes to include, but not limited to:

  • Liberating Germany from the grip of warlords
  • Establishing peace between the National Republic of Poland and the UGF
  • Enacting successful workers’ rights policies
  • Growing the economy of the UGF many fold
  • Ending long-standing ethnic conflict in Germany
  • Turning Germany into a military powerhouse

Gallec remains perhaps the most popular leader in the world, with a public poll of 91% support for the Kaiser’s continued reign. In fact, the main opposition to Gallec is the two groups he has actively antagonized and attacked throughout his reign, that being the wealthy/the powerful and career politicians. Gallec’s main duty as Kaiser, according to his own word, was to place power in the hands of the people. At that, he has been largely successful as he is known to strike compromises with representatives of both sides of the spectrum. Such career politicians exist mainly in the Blue Coalition, the main constituent party of the Government.

Due to his advanced age, Gallec has decided to take a temporary step out of the public’s eye to spend time with family and friends. Gallec is, however, expected to attend the opening session of the 21st Session of the Congress of the !@#$.

5th Congressional Assembly of the !@#$

Also still intact is the Reichstag, officially known as the Congressional Assembly of the !@#$. Elections only recently concluded, with the assembly expected to be sworn in next month. The Government and Opposition is as follows:

Government

  • Blue Coalition
  • Marshal’s Party
  • Libertarian Party
  • Minority elements of the Democratic-Republican Party

Opposition

  • Liberal Coalition
  • Majority elements of the Democratic-Republican Party
  • Democratic Socialist Party
  • People’s Communist Union

The Blue Coalition is a union of moderate Social Democrats and moderate Classical Liberals. Their ideology consists of monarchism, economical social democracy, social conservatism, and Protestantism. Officially, it is a Protestant party with Jewish elements. The Marshal’s Party shares much of the same ideology, but advocates similar policy to the Polish Marshalship, that being more de facto power in the hands of the head of state. The Libertarian Party and Democratic-Republican Party advocate mainly constitutional government with the power of the monarchy still remaining intact. They also advocate open markets with only necessary government intervention.

In the opposition, the Liberal Coalition advocates a more limited monarchy for the event of a monarch not as benevolent as Gallec. They also advocate more liberal conservative social policies. Much is the same for the Democratic-Republican majority. The Democratic Socialist Party advocates democratic socialism, while the People’s Communist Union advocates Marxism-Leninism.

The Citizen’s Compromise

A common ground found between the majority of the Government and Opposition is the agreement that a welfare state is necessary for the unity of the nation. As such, the Parliament adopted the Social Welfare Act and the Fair Tax Act. The Social Welfare Act is an enacting of programs such as Low-Income Healthcare, which has replaced the long-standing regulationist system, public works projects for low-income families, and the nationalization of electricity, water, and natural gas lines. All this is done in an attempt to relieve the average family of worries about these necessities.

The Fair Tax Act is little more than the institution of a progressive tax system. As part of Gallec’s promise to fight against the rich and the powerful, this act is considered the culmination of his plan. He signed the act in the middle of a public ceremony in Berlin which was followed by the singing of the national anthem.

Imperial Decree XII

A rarely used part of the Constitution is the Imperial Decree. Defined explicitly in the Constitution, the Imperial Decree is defined in Article 2 as:

“…the power of the imperial head to enact policy that provides executive funding to the economy, protects the natural, implicit, or explicit rights of the people, or works to better the lives of the citizens under the jurisdiction of the German government”.

Drawing on the latter part of this, Gallec recently signed Imperial Decree XII into Imperial Code. The decree targets local bureaucrats who have been investigated for corruption and their associates. Any bribe money will be seized by the Imperial Guard and brought to a common trust fund. As well as this, any bribers will to have a great deal of their capital seized. Once the investigation is complete, this money will be distributed to average citizens. However, a formal questioning has been brought against this decree as unconstitutional. The Supreme Federal Court has begun a review of the decree to determine its constitutionality, but they are under significant public pressure to declare it constitutional, with several law experts agreeing that it is within the power of the Kaiser to do this.

That is all there is to be said about the nation as of now. Thank you for reading, and God bless you all.
