United Area of Illinois was hit with a flash flood yesterday and early today. Some regions across the south central part of the nation received 3-4" of rain.

President Hermione Granger spoke today with the leader of the United Area of Illinois Transportation Department and the United Area of Illinois Speaker of the House this morning who both expressed their concerns about areas where small and mid-sized creeks flooded roads.

Granger stated that both the Speaker and the Transportation Department leader would like to propose a large infrastructure bill that would range around 400 billion dollars that would stretch across the next eight years. The Speaker would like to send 25% of all the money in the bill to the counties and cities to use on infrastructure as they see the need. The Transportation leader would like to use all of the money on state roads and bridges.

Another small dispute arose on how to fund the bill. The Speaker was proposing that Income taxes should be raised by 1.25% on all the tax brackets. The Transportation leader suggested that Property taxes be raised by $25 per acre and $100 per building on all privately owned land. Granger favors raising the sales tax or using some of the budget surplus to avoid raising taxes on working families who are already struggling from paycheck to paycheck.

After a new media who opposed Granger broke this story, the President's approval rating went from 69.9% to 68.1%.
