And here we are! Another year has passed and yesterday the government published the statistics of the year. We will again scrutinize the numbers closely and see if the government has been able to meet its targets better this year than last year.

Since already three years now, we start with the economic growth. In 2072 the GDP increased from 1,935,747,427.00$ to 2,071,510,477.00$. This means a growth of 7,0%. The objective is reached but because the growth wasn't as high as in the years before, the government decided not to increase the target value to 6%.

The objective of better life quality developed identical in comparison to the last year. While the Average Income was increased from 2.77$ to 2.91$ (meeting the objective of a 0.10$ increase), the GDP per Capita dropped from 1,129.94$ to 1,116.29$. Therefore, the objective is half reached again. The life quality, similar to the last year, also suffered because of a new war in Husen-Kurl and the expensive food prices.

The objective of environmental protection is fully reached. The pollution decreased from 552 points to 432 points and therefore the indicator increased from 3,103 to 4,295.

The last objective of external balance is a decisive one if we consider the development of the last year. In the last year Husen-Kurl had a trade deficit of -48,635,564$, mainly because of the Great War. In 2072 Husen-Kurl still has a trade deficit but it is much smaller with -13,699,429$. It is interesting that around 17,000 goods more were imported this year than in the last year but still costed around 33 million less. This is mainly because tons of food were imported in the last year. The question is if the government can a afford this longer if we consider the great price increase of food on the global market. Overall, 65,319 tons of goods were imported for a value of 23,252,229$ and 4,080 tons of goods were exported for a value of 9,552,800$. The objective is still reached because the deficit doesn't make more than 1/3 of the yearly income.

This means that although the nation suffered from its greatest war this year which damaged infrastructure worth 37,000,000$, the country maybe experienced its best year since the beginning of the counts. 3 objectives were reached and one by at least a half. This is still not represented in the polls but that is up for the end of the article.

Here are the further statistics: The infrastructure of Husen-Kurl has decreased 15,200 to 15,000 due to the fact that much infrastructure was destroyed in "The Devikea War"and not everything was rebuilt. The land area increased from 19,500 sq. miles to 23,650 sq. miles. No new city or national project was built. The GNI increased from 914,539,620.00$ to 948,645,220.00$ and the population, although over 200,000 people lost their lives in the war, increased from 1,713,139 to 1,855,539.

The military statistics are not very interesting this year. It is positive that the military has greatly recovered from the war and now has its old strength. No new military improvements were built but 6 new ships were constructed, increasing the amount from 113 to 119. On the other side Husen-Kurl's ground force has 435 tanks less now. The whole military now consists of 120,000 soldiers, 7,065 tanks, 600 aircraft, 119 ships and 3 missiles, making out 538.625 points of the nation score.

This results in a nation score of 1,703.63 (10 less than one year ago) which places Husen-Kurl on rank #3,103(16,71%).

Furthermore the disease rate decreased from 4.70% to 2,71% and the crime rate from 0.73% to 0.29%. The commerce rate increased from 41.14% to 45.85%.

Now we maybe come to the most interesting topic of this article as we see that the next election comes closer. Because of the two lost wars, but especially the "Devikea War", the government had a massive collapse in the polls since April 2072. They didn't recover from that and are still on a similar level in comparison to this poll. On the other hand, it is the same for all other parties. Here is the poll of 19th January with the development in comparison to the poll of last April:

Sozialdemokratische Partei Husen-Kurls (SPHK) - 55,0% (+1,5%)

Stabilitätspartei (SP) - 24,6% (-2,2%)

Die Grünen (Grüne) - 18,7% (+4,0%)

Hispanic Party (HP) - 1,7% (-3,3%)

This means that the government party will have to work hard to keep the absolute majority in the parliament. Our political experts say that the rise of Die Grünen could be a result of typical SPHK voters voting for them to force the SPHK into a coalition with them to guarantee more environmental protection and less pollution. It will be interesting if this tactical behavior will have success in the end. Shortly we will take a look at every election program of the parties when Die Grünen will publish theirs on 25th January. We will then carefully analyze the following campaigns.

The President made a statement on TV yesterday. Here are the most important ones: " My fellow Husen-Kurler. [...] Although we experienced the probably darkest time in our history, the devastating war, we have come through the year like we haven't ever before. Our crime and disease rates are on their lowest and the commerce rate is on its highest since we begin to count them. We got growth, better environmental protection and a better income in the last year. We can be proud each other! [...] In this year, my greatest goal will be to make your life more prosperous. I hope to increase the income again and lower the pollution. One major problem in the future will be the supply with enough food as radiation has increased the food prices by 100% since this nation exists and by 50$ in the last few weeks. I am going to try everything to keep our reserves alive and our supply stable. Now one in this country will have to starve! [...] I hope you want to go this way with me and also show that in September (time of the election, editor's note). [...] Thank you!"

Husen-Kurl's 2072 was a year of highs and deeps. This year is going to be very interesting as we see the election in front of us, a new census, the first full year of SoL membership and in the summer the first results of the first football season of this country (The previous results will be presented in next weeks edition as the last game of the first round happens on this Sunday, editor's note). We will look forward to see you next year when it's time for the new review. Stay safe and happy!
