As we move into the month of March, we take a look at the top three election candidates that are currently running for President of the United Imperium. Running for the Conservative Party is President George Lincoln, the former Chicago Continental Air Force Officer who served as the United Imperium's first President. The President favors limited government, conservative economics, the right to bear small and medium arms, industrial and technological advancement, isolationist foreign policy when not operating within the Fighting Pacifist Alliance, and military strength and flexibility. George Lincoln has seen great triumph in everything from the stable infrastructure of the United Imperium to the technological superiority of the nation to the triumphs of the Kelsenky War to the establishment of a stable government and democracy with guaranteed rights and liberties. However, the President has in the past seen his greatest struggles in the face of the Oil Spike of 2066, Carolina Republic Disaster of 2067, and the Christmas Power Shutdown of 2069. These were all issues regarding the environment, city power, and mishandled foreign relations. Environmentalists, Pacifists, Communists, and Alliants are common opponents of the President's agenda. The second candidate is environmentalist leader Betty Shostakovich of the Liberal Party. She favors a limitation on the right to bear arms, anti-racism and anti-sexism legislation, left-of-center economics, pacifist foreign policy, and a heavy emphasis on pro-environment action, especially regarding the push for wind power. Her biggest struggles have been pushing for her own agenda within the Liberal Party and securing the support of activists in her policies. Her biggest success has been successfully lobbying many corporations into switching to renewable power in 2068. She is opposed primarily by the Nationalists, Large-Arms Supporters, and Capitalists. The third candidate comes from the Unitarian Party: Colonel Albert Hamilton. Colonel Hamilton supports a limitation on firearms, centrist economics, increased government power, reduction in social spending, sharp increases in military spending, and a globalist interventionist foreign policy. His greatest success was his role in cementing victory for the United Imperium in the Battle for Gulli, while his greatest failure was his acting on false intelligence in the Carolina Republic. The controversial military man is opposed primarily by Libertarians, Liberals, Isolationists, and Pacifists. Currently, President Lincoln holds a firm lead in the polls with 57% of the popular vote. At 23% of the popular vote, Shostakovich and the Liberal Party are in second. At 20% of the popular vote, Colonel Hamilton is in third place, although for the past month, the latter two candidates have been switching between second and third place.
