After the Namibian Missile Crisis cooled, New Vilania turned our attention back to the war in Sierra Leone. It began on the 6th of October of last year (2098) and we have been fighting since December 22. So far, we have secured most of the country, and our final goal is to make a push for the capital, Freetown, and topple the separatist Republic of Sierra Leone for good. The military has rolled out a plan to do this. First, we will show a diagram of the current scenario, and then explain how we will win a final victory.

In yellow is the territory held by the Golden Eagles, a pro-Kolakian loyalist militia, in red is the territory that has been recaptured by New Vilanian and Kolakian forces, in blue marks the current front line which the separatists are holding, and the green line marks the New Vilanian naval blockade of the Sierra Leonean coastline:

The plan to finish off the Sierra Leonean state begins with an assessment of the current strengths of either side. Currently, the Republic of Sierra Leone has around 41,000 troops left of their original 120,000. All of these troops have been stationed close to Freetown, as military dictator Osman Sillah is making a last-ditch attempt to save the separatist state. Meanwhile, the coalition forces of Kolakia, New Vilania, and the Golden Eagles have approximately 178,000 troops prepared to commence an invasion. This consists of about 92,000 Kolakians, 61,000 New Vilanians, and 25,000 Golden Eagles.

Here are the steps of the plan:

1: 5,000 Kolakian troops will establish a foothold at Tagrin Point, just across the Sierra Leone River from Freetown, and begin artillery bombardment of the RSL’s army.

2: The 178,000 coalition forces will commence movements toward Freetown. They will aim to secure Hastings Airport, which is about 10 miles southeast of the city’s center, as a base from which to launch the final push toward Freetown.

3: An additional 20,000 New Vilanian marines pulled from Annobon Island will make an amphibious landing at Cape Shilling, about 30 miles south of Freetown. This will force Sierra Leone to divert troops from defending the main invasion. The marines will secure False Cape, which is about 5 miles southwest of Freetown’s center, as a base for their final push.

4: 25 naval vessels participating in the blockade of the Sierra Leonean coastline will sail into the mouth of the Sierra Leone River and begin their own bombardment of troops in the Freetown area.

5: New Vilanian aircraft will continue their bombing runs against strategic military targets.

6: If the bombardment from land, air, and sea does not force a surrender, the coalition troops at Hastings Airport and New Vilanian marines at False Cape will commence the final invasion and secure all of Freetown. Osman Sillah and all other revolutionary leaders that fail to escape will be taken into custody.

7: Once Kolakian control over Sierra Leone has been fully reestablished, New Vilania will pull its forces from the territory. Julius Kamara, the head of the Golden Eagles militia group, will be made the governor of Sierra Leone.

Alright, that’s all. Expect updates once the plan is put into action.
