As the bill was read off by the clerk. Josef Nord's heart drummed in anticipation of the questions of the Council before him.
"Mr. Nord, would you like to speak on this bill?" the clerk asked.
"Indeed I would," Replied Josef. "This Bill has had bipartisan support, Mr. Conduct II and His White Armband Libertarian Movement (TWALM) and the Party I represent the Sentinels of Liberty (SOL) have not always seen eye to eye on economic matters, but in this We are united we wish to Liberate the people from the chains of over Taxation. Am I now ready for questions."
The room became dead silent.
Then a question was raised.
"Will the gentleman in the well yield to a question" inquired Council member Omari.
"I do" Responded Nord.
"How does this Bill support those in need? Those who cannot sustain on their own? The disabled, sick, and poor?" Omari posed.
"Thank you, Councilman Omari for your question. I can observe you are the Chairman of the Islamic Representative Party(IRP) which has concerns about the tax and spending cuts. To address those concerns I will tell you this: The tax and spending cuts in the long run have more benefits, welfare unfortunately creates a system of dependency, corruption, and promotes laziness. while it is a great idea when put into practice it brings upon horrific results. Our best option is to leave it up to the individual to decide how to use their hard earned money. Most people are generous, but when they are over taxed they have to "penny pinch" just to put bread on the table for their own families. Would you spend your money on someone else when you can't even help yourself?"
another voice comes from the Council body
"Will the gentleman In the well yield the well for the purpose of speaking this Bill?" Conduct II asked.
Nord thought for a moment, Conduct could either ruin the game plan or allow it to succeed.
"Yes, I will." said Nord cautiously.
Nord stepped down from his position and walked to his seat, Conduct II looked at Nord and Smirked and gave Nord a nod of acknowledgement.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Council body, Thank you for your time today. Nord had brought some amazing points. I know many of you shy at the idea of Welfare being destroyed. But let me clarify, What Nord is attempting to do is make a compromise. Welfare programs will still have room in spending just less. The drastic cuts will prove to be beneficial. Not only will our people be more free but also, we will sift out the corrupt politicians from our midst. any Politician lining their pockets with "extra" money from the revenue from welfare taxation, will get less money and will resign from office rather quickly... In any case this bill does not mean the end of Welfare but rather a new chapter in it's story."
There was mummering among the Council, so much so that the Executive Officer had to bring order.
"Order in the body please," The Executive Officer demanded.
The MP in the room shifted uneasily.
A Woman in the Council body rose her hand swiftly.
"The Council would like to acknowledge the Councilwoman on the third row wearing green," said The Executive Officer.
"I move to recess for 3 hours," said the Woman.
