President Milo Safe, Recovering From Gas Leak Incident

September 14, 2098

President of the Republic, Lucas Dias Milo, after suffering injuries due to a gas leak incident in a historic church while speeching in Curitiba, has been discharged from the local hospital Grécia Martins Surgery Center, in Joinville, state of Paraná. The president is clear in addressing the media.

In response to allegations circulating about a possible kidnapping or coup involving mercenaries, Milo categorically dismissed them as "fake news." He reaffirmed his position, stating, "These allegations are dishonorable attempts to destabilize me. We are more united and stronger than ever."

In addition, the government's website and other social media portals also denied the allegations of "helicopter kidnapping" or "Russian mercenary coup," classifying such claims as fake news. The president is recovering from the trauma and hopes to resume his activities soon.

The incident has led to a review of security measures at public events, with a promise of increased surveillance to protect public figures and citizens.

President Resigns Role as Chief of the Armed Forces With Constitutional Amendment; Army General Takes the Position

June 8, 2099

Yesterday, June 7th, structural changes in the armed forces were made, General-of-the-Army Luís Antônio Moraes assumed as the supreme chief of the institution, replacing the President of the Republic Lucas D. Milo, whose position until then held supreme power over Cruzeiro's defense. The change was supported by the president himself, who encouraged his liberal party, with the largest number of seats in the national congress, to make the change during a constitutional amendment session yesterday, which lasted 4 hours and 27 minutes.

Of the total of 324 congresspeople, 220 voted for the amendment, with the liberal party being the largest component of votes in favor. Other opposition parties were also important for the victory, however, these, instead of voting at the urging of a prominent figure, did so possibly aiming to weaken Milo's powers.

Below are the results published by the National Congress after the session finished:

68% of the Congress voted in favor - The amendment revised significant guidelines in the constitution, allowing for greater centralization of military command in the hands of a single individual.

This legislative move was justified by its supporters as a necessary measure to "strengthen the efficiency and cohesion of the armed forces in times of global turbulence and internal challenges."

The approval of the governor of São Paulo on social media indicated a possible tune between the Federative state and Moraes's army.

Upon taking office as Supreme Chief, General Moraes's first action was to proclaim the "Greater Cruzeiran Army", (or simply MEC for Maior Exército Cruzeirense in Portuguese) as a revitalized force ready to face future defense challenges.

Moraes shouted a speech, made at the National Monument to the Dead of World War II, in Rio de Janeiro, with a formation of about 200 soldiers, some officers, and the presence of the Military Commander of the East, Luísa Abravanel Mendes, broadcast nationally.

"Today we are not only celebrating a new way of organizing ourselves and redefining our power and our leadership, but also reaffirming our unwavering commitment to the security and prosperity of our giant Homeland. In the critical state we are in now, caused by the nuclear war of the northern powers, we cannot, and will not allow cuts in our funds!

We need a powerful contingent, always ready to deal with any situation! For over a decade our institution has been left aside, they did not invest in us, they did not care for us, they just used us in the moments they needed us the most!

But that changes today, our Greater Army must show that it is the example of the Southern Cross! They had the chance to bring us down in the past, they had the chance to colonize us, to kill us.. Well, they missed that chance.

Troops! Welcome to the Greater Exército, Strong Arm and Helping Hand!" - declared the general.

The subsequent constitutional change have generated mixed reactions across the nation. While many celebrate the decision as a positive move, critics express concern about the growing military power in national politics. Political analysts point out that this change could alter the balance of power, possibly increasing the army's role in civilian decisions.

Cruzeiro Mobilizes for Border Patrolling in Response to Thailand's Legalization of Narcotics

June 7, 2099

After the legalization of drug trade and distribution by Thai corporate administrations in South America, Siamese American Corp and Empresa Tailandesa-Colombiana, there is an imminent risk of a drastic increase in smuggling and trafficking of illicit substances.

In response to the defense of the population and security within the borders, the Maior Exército Cruzeirense (MEC) responded strongly by intensifying its security operations along the northern borders of the country.

The measure comes as a direct response to prevent the influx of narcotics that could potentially cross into national territory. As part of the operation, the Northern Military Command, led by Commander Rodrigo Farias, partially mobilized its troops to conduct intensive patrols along the borders. In a complementary effort, aircraft from the Air Force were dispatched to conduct aerial inspections, ensuring comprehensive and effective coverage against possible air trafficking routes.

Additionally, a coordinated action by the Riverine Fleet resulted in the detention of a group of five Colombians suspected of attempting to illegally cross the Uaupés River, near the peaceful little city of Iauaretê, being intercepted by patrolling boats.
