DRUG WARS IN THE CONGO, POLITICAL INSTABILITY ON THE HOME FRONT

As control of the Haut-Katanga province is slowly given over to the Republic Of Greenland, the African Provincial Defense Force has already been called into action to fight the growing drug crisis in Africa. On June 4, local constabularies from the town of Sakania reported spotting a fan-powered hovercraft containing four men and what appeared to be firearms and large duffle bags speeding down the Congo River. Unable to pursue due to lack of water craft, the force reported the issue to the nearby APDF outpost, who deployed two trucks of conscripts, as well as a river patrol boat armed with two .50 caliber machine guns and a 30mm repeating turret.

The forces immediately began their chase, with the two trucks taking up positions at the end of the river only some 300 meters away from the border into Transvaal-controlled Zambia. The patrol boat managed to strike the hovercraft's fan as it sped down the murky brown waters, causing it to capsize approximately 35 meters away from shore. The four passengers grabbed their firearms (two AK-113s, a Tokagypt pistol, and a PKM machine gun) and waded towards dry land, where they were promptly fired upon by the APDF forces.

Immediately, one of the men was struck and drowned, unable to swim upwards due to the weight of his rifle and the bag he was carrying. The other three made it to dry land and killed one pursuing soldier, then wounded another. One of the men surrendered himself as he attempted to flee into a nearby forest, only to be ambushed by five APDF soldiers. The other two remaining men got away, though some reports say one fled the scene badly wounded. The capsized hovercraft was searched and the prisoner interrogated, and over 25 kilos of illegal drugs were discovered. The prisoner admitted to working for a criminal group, but hung himself in his cell before any more info could be discovered.

Efforts to coordinate with the Transvaal Republic against the influx of illegal drugs will begin shortly, and the dead APDF soldier will be buried with full military honors. Stricter penalties for those convicted of narcotics-related crimes will soon be implemented as well, alongside a dedicated anti-narcotics force.

GREENLANDIC COMMUNIST TERROR ORGANIZATION WREAKS HAVOC IN ROG

As the ROG's part in global affairs continues to grow larger by the day, as well as our empire, unsavory groups have decided to step out of the shadows and attempt to destabilize the nation. The Greenlandic Revolutionary Army (GRA), a communist paramilitary organization, is believed to be behind a recent attack on the presidential train that resulted in the kidnapping of Vice President James Walker. The technology used in the assault (a mobile artillery tank and an infantry missile carriage) has led the government to believe that their force is extremely well-armed and well trained. They are suspected to also be behind the attempted assassination of President Phoenix Hayes at the capitol building, which happened several months ago. Current estimates place their numbers at approximately 45,000 members across all ROG territories.
