Williamsbourg Experiments With Lab-Grown Food to Fight Food Shortages

The nuclear winter following the war between TUI and The Soviet Federation has caused widespread crop failure which, on top of the collapse of transportation systems, has put millions at risk of starvation. Now that the government has been mostly restored, at least in areas not under Syndicalist or Legion control, they can now finally address the humanitarian crisis. The first priority is getting the transportation systems back up and running, otherwise, food won't be able to reach the population. But there is also the problem of producing food.

Since traditional farming will be very difficult for years to come due to nuclear winter, the agriculture, R&D, and environmental ministries have considered converting the country's farming to be primarily lab-based until normal farming is viable. However, this will be very expensive to do, and since the military is still fighting rebel groups in the east, and trying to rebuild the country's transportation system, it will likely not have the money to, or be willing to fund the labs, at least not on a large enough scale to solve the food crisis. Experimentation will still be done in hopes of finding a cheaper way to cultivate lab-grown foods on a mass scale.

The Army is Close to Retaking Petersberg

Confederal forces are closing in on the city of Petersberg which has been under the control of The Iron Legion for the last four months. The city was a very important holding for the government as it was home to one of the country's reactors, as well as The Petersberg Atomic Research Institute, which has blueprints for nuclear weapons. As of right now, the Confederal Army is within the metropolitan area of Petersberg on two fronts and is close to surrounding the city.
