Section 1.

Reports of extremist violence increasing

Over the past couple of months targeted political violence has been on the rise, reaching an all time high since the civil war. In a report published by the Royal Center of Intelligence alarming statistics came to light. Since Jan. 1st 2098 over 500 instances of extremist beliefs motivating violence. Being specific, 198 being attributed to leftist ideologies. Those being Anarchists with 63, Socialists/Communists 54, Syndicalists 43, Anti-Monarchists 20, Progressives 18. The targets of the attacks ranged from police officers to far-right individuals. While the methods employed were varied as well. However, a trend saw “bottle bombs” being used in a concerningly high number of these incidents. Although, shootings and stabbings also made up a large portion of the violent actions. The RCI did not state numbers relating to the commonality of methods used.

Shifting our focus to the other side of the political scale, on the right extremists counted for 189 attacks. Specifically Fascists 95, Neo !@#$ 35, Religious extremists 29, Ultra Traditionalists 21, Conservatives 9. Paralleling the leftist violence targeted individuals were government employees and members of leftist groups. However, where a noticeable difference can be seen is in non-affiliated individuals (NAIs) that they target. NAIs get targeted on grounds of race, status as LGBTQ+, or religious reasons. As well as other innocent civilians caught up in a situation.  The RCI did include statistics about NAIs, but they didn’t include them in left or right sections. Instead they gave the NAIs their own section. Getting back on topic, most methods used revolved around planned assassinations, gang style beatings, and mass casualty events (MCEs are only counted as one instance). The RCI also put down some of the consistently targeted spaces, such as leftist political rallies, public areas in government buildings, and social services.

NAIs have been mostly targeted by right leaning organizations, but the left also has been identified in attacks on NAIs, albeit in significantly smaller numbers. The report stated NAIs have suffered 113 different attacks. Of those 36 were race motivated, 32 LGBTQ+ hate motivated, 28 religiously motivated, and 17 random bystanders. When looking at the divide between left and right, the right had 82 NAI attacks, and the left had 31. Looking at the divide in motivations, the right was behind all race and LGBTQ+ targeted attacks, as well as 9 religious attacks, and 5 attacks on random bystanders. While the left was behind 19 religious attacks (primarily non-religious people attacking religious individuals/orgs.) and 12 bystander attacks.
