Part I: New American Dreams

June 22, 2065 |

The Great Balkanization left the world in ruin. But humanity had always risen from its ruins in the past. And as the first civilizations began popping up again, as the first societies began coalescing, it became abundantly clear that a new world order was rising. In many ways, this new world order was no different from the one that reigned before the Great Balkanization. Chaos and conflict reigned supreme. Unlike in the pre-Balkanization Era, however, there was no undercurrent of stability. Nations came and went, coming and going like the unrelenting waves of the ocean. It is in this environment that the United Imperium would come to life, forged from the blood and fire of a brutal Independence War against the Communist Monarchy of Canada. The following year, the Communist Monarchy collapsed, like many nations before it.

Part II: Global Ambition

February 22, 2074 |

For some time after its independence, the Imperium quietly began consolidating power. This occurred at the same time as the rise of many other nations, such as West New York, Williamsbourg, Igua-Sul (now Cruzeiro), Dreamistan (now Thailand), La Punta, and Nukeya. While the Foreign Raids Campaign, Economic Recessions, the first major international conflicts, and the spread of bioweapons wreaked havoc on a global scale, the United Imperium began playing a key role in preserving what little pockets of liberty existed in the world, forming long-lasting alliances with Igua-Sul and La Punta. The crucial work the Imperium did in building its economy and a burgeoning aerospace industry, tackling the bio-weapon threat through forming the ABWTF as well as through the neutralization of the genocidal threat George Ivanov proved that the United Imperium was ready to begin its position as a major power on the world stage.

Along with the early work the Imperium did in combatting bioweapon proliferation and in neutralizing international terrorist threats, the rise of the Imperium's Aerospace Industry would be a crucial factor in ensuring its success as both an economic and military power.

Part III: A Primary Threat

June 22, 2075 |

Growth is marked by hardship, and it only makes sense that the Imperium's rise to superpower was paralleled by the rise of its greatest rival. As the United Imperium fought the rapidly growing problem of bioweapons and all other manner of Weapons of Mass Destruction, another nation grew in tandem, acting as a key cause for the rise of these problems. This was Dreamistan. As an authoritarian state that brutally repressed its own people, Dreamistan was the very antithesis of everything the Imperium and its allies stood for. In the Summer of 2075, the United Imperium, Igua-Sul, and FRS declared war against Dreamistan in an effort to defeat one of the primary causes of the bioweapons threat. By the end of the summer, the war had ended in an Imperium victory. While in the short term, the Coalition faced backlash due to Igua-Sul's use of nuclear weapons against Dreamistani targets, in the long run, the bioweapons threat had been massively neutralized by this war.

Part IV: Prosperity at Home

July 4, 2078 |

As the Imperium continued building its influence internationally, it also focused inward, improving the quality of life within its own borders. The Imperium kept expanding, incorporating new cities, building more farmland, growing commerce, and building a strong manufacturing industry across the nation. Building a robust subway network across the nation and a strong aviation industry helped make the Imperium transportation industry one of the best in the world. An abundance of food, easy access to cutting-edge technologies, and the ability to traverse the nation with ease meant that the nation was feeling quite good about itself. In the world of sports, the Imperium also continued to dominate. Already the best nation in the world when it came to American Football (thanks to the UIFL), the Imperium proved that it was also the best nation in the world at soccer by winning the 2078 World Cup in Western Maghreb.

Part V: The Power Shift

October 31, 2080 |

The fifteen years in which George Delano Lincoln was President of the United Imperium were crucial formative years. But Lincoln was exhausted. He was aging rapidly, and he knew it was time for a new leader. That leader was Tristan Roosevelt. A few years earlier, Roosevelt had played a critical role in passing funding and legislature that would enable the United Imperium to put a Man on the Moon for the first time. In addition, his push for new national parks was wildly popular, as the Imperium wished to get in touch with nature and its heritage once again. Roosevelt won his election against Rysander Regan, but his term would begin in disaster. Roosevelt foolishly pursued war with one of the greatest powers in the history of Orbis, Nukeya, shortly after his term began. After a brutal nuclear exchange, the Imperium was forced to withdraw in defeat, marking the end of the first Pax Imperium and the Great Anarchy, a period of four years in which the Imperium found itself in serious jeopardy.

To this day, Nukeya is the only worthy adversary of the United Imperium. Ironically, the aftermath of the Opal War would lead to a mutual respect between the citizens of the two nations. This respect would lead to the Imperium recieving the Atomic Mandate of Nukeya, which confirmed the Imperium's position as True Successor to the United States of America.

Part VI: New Martian Dawn

April 8, 2090 |

The United Imperium was not defeated yet. In 2084, the Imperium finally managed to stabilize itself from the Great Anarchy. This enabled Roosevelt to sneak into re-election in the 2085 Presidential Cycle. By this time, a great space race was beginning. Who would become the first nation to get to Mars? In his own words, Roosevelt "threw the kitchen sink" at this goal, injecting funding into the Space Program and the Imperium's Space Industry in a desperate effort to get the Imperium to Mars first. This time, the gamble paid off. On April 8, 2090, the United Imperium became the first nation in the history of Orbis to put a man on Mars. The Imperium had etched its name into Orbis history for all eternity, but through this project, placed itself in the economic and technological position to return to its position as a global superpower, once again ready to present itself as a beacon of freedom and democracy in Orbis.

Part VII: Cleaning Up

January 31, 2092 |

Upon recognizing the disastrous position the former United States and the World were in, the United Imperium knew something had to be done. Communism and Slavery reigned supreme across these lands that once stood for freedom and democracy. Even worse, a Communist Hegemony ruled Orbis. Slowly, but surely, that hegemony would begin unraveling. The Imperium made quick work of the evils plaguing the United Imperium, establishing an innovative Joint-Governance Pact in order to consolidate power over the Continental United States. Next, the Imperium began establishing a network of alliances, rapidly building up international commerce and global cooperation. The United Imperium had rapidly skyrocketed into the position it needed to defeat its final adversary: The Soviet Federation.

An Imperium Fighter Aircraft Flies Over Hostile Territory. Many adversaries prevented the Imperium from establishing freedom and democracy at home, but these adversaries were quickly defeated. Multiple altercations over Louisiana also did little to deter the United Imperium, as it stood up to both the Soviet Federation and fought against the Colombian Regime in defense of its homeland. In addition, the Imperium also continued innovating and expanding its economic and technological influence, especially through continued endeavors in space.

Part VIII: Bipolar World

June 26, 2096 |

By 2094, the Communist World Order had slowly begun to unravel. In the aftermath of the APSA-UEC War, the Sedro-Soviet split led to the Soviet loss of one of their most important allies. Naturally, the United Imperium picked up Sedrosia as one of its most crucial allies. The cost of over a decade of non-stop major wars was beginning to take its toll. In addition, the Imperium and Caribbean-based organizations such as the Graveyard Fleet played a crucial role in drawing awareness to the multitude of gen0cides which the Soviet Federation was either directly or indirectly responsible for. Slowly but surely, the world began turning back to Liberty and Democracy.

Though the United Imperium never joined the APSA-UEC War, such efforts as assassinating the Iberian head of state to avenge Nukeyan advisors who were assassinated by the old Iberian regime, and providing satellite intelligence to the Graveyard Fleet in order to help combat the Istanbul !@#$ (something which likely saved an estimated five million Istanbulite lives), and negotiating multiple peace deals at the tail end of the war, played a critical role in cementing the Imperium's influence as a premier global superpower.

Part IX: Nuclear Ends

July 31, 2098 |

By this point, the United Imperium's influence spanned all seven continents. Naturally, the Soviet Federation, rapidly falling from superpower status, knew it was in very deep trouble. In a last-ditch effort to save face, the Soviet Federation began a war of aggression against the United Imperium (specifically, it intended to engage in the mass gen0cide of Raritanians) and its allies. Of course, the Imperium took all this in stride and was making quick work of the Soviet Federation. With almost all of its Navy gone, and with its Air Force to soon follow suit, the Soviets had two options: surrender, or escalate to the use of nuclear weapons. They chose the latter. The United Imperium and Soviet Federation would both fall to the hands of nuclear death. The final bastion of Communism had been slain, but there would no doubt be others to carry on the legacy of liberty that the Imperium had built.

The Soviet Federation's war goals were to 1. engage in mass gen0cide of innocent Raritanians, 2. Destroy all member nations of the JGP, and 3. Reaffirm the Soviet position as the number one world power. In the end, Raritania survived, most member nations of the JGP survived, and the Soviet Federation no longer exists. In fact, with the fall of Communism in Melonese France, there is not a single Communist power left in Orbis. In an entertaining twist, it seems that mainland Russia itself is currently being governed under its own JGP, and it is rumored that at some point, the neo-Russian Empire may posthumously fly the flag of the United Imperium over the Red Square.

Part X: A Future for Freedom

August 31, 2098 |

In the aftermath of the nuclear war, the world once again shattered apart. In picking up the pieces, however, were elements of a new world order. Aurelia, Zukesa, Ajako, Sedrosia, Britain, Cruzeiro, Canada, the Netherlands, Victoria, and many other nations have now taken the world stage. Virtually every major power has embraced the ideals of liberty, capitalism, and democracy which were once so hard to find across Orbis. In many ways, the job of the United Imperium (and the United States before it) is done. Humanity is now an interplanetary species. The world is now filled with examples of successful experiments in capitalism and democracy. Though the Imperium is gone, the legacy it has left on Orbis will last until the end of human civilization itself. 

In the mainland of the Imperium, a B-2 Spirit, a C-130 Hercules, an E-2 Hawkeye, an SR-71 Blackbird, three F-22 Raptors, three F-14 Tomcats, five F-35 Lightnings, five F-15 Eagles, five F-16 Fighting Falcons, and five F-18 Super Hornets fly to an island 60 miles off the coast of North America, where the last surviving aircraft carrier of the United Imperium is currently anchored. Across multiple flights, approximately 6000 men and women from around the world are ferried to this mysterious island. These assets and personnel will form the Taipan Aerospace Organization. It's purpose? No one knows.
