||| The Reaction

From one war into another. Mundusia has yet again been attacked by - not nations this time, but - a nation. The Portuguese Republic's government under their President Remigio Nascimento's orders has attempted to unlawfully take Madeira from us. Under the false guise of a small and harmless naval training and surveying program, they secretly landed on Porto Santo and continued further in their wicked endeavors to annex the archipelago. Yet, they simply think we will stand by and watch this all happen like a restrained lion watching his pride and cubs be taken away by some strange man? This will not stand!

President Kopington quickly called up the Assembly and Senate. Among them, he spoke words of encouragement and truth! And when he finished...! "We are going to war."

||| The Exclusion Zones

The first order of business was to establish three exclusion zones. Taking into consideration the other islands and nations surrounding Madeira, these zones have been drawn up. The first exclusion zone (red) allows the Mundusian military to shoot down any ship, civilian or not, the comes close the Madeira. It should be evident by now that the archipelago is one to be avoided, so a civilian incident should not happen. The second exclusion zone (yellow) is similar to Exclusion Zone Red, but the function is for aircraft, civilian or not. The last exclusion zone (green) guarantees that whatever passed through the two exclusion zones is either heavily damaged, destroyed, or about to be shot down/sunk.

||| Firing Up the Navy

The Medinea Flotilla, Buroisee Flotilla, some of the Naval Air Service, the Amphibious Coastal Landing Brigade, the 4th, 5th, and 6th Lightboat Divisions have been sent to Madeira. This totals to 32 aircraft, 30 light boats, 2000 land soldiers, 7 frigates, 5 corvettes, 2 tankers, 3 replenishment ships, and 6 submarines. These forces, collectively identified as Force "Madeira", will arrive within 12-13 hours as they had already set out under the demand of the United Cabinet and President Kopington. Due to Portugal's missile-happy behavior, the Force has been advised to be on lookout for missiles fired. To ensure that at least a large portion, if not all of the force, survives they have been notified to keep close watch.

||| Operation: Hauleman

4 strategic bombing aircraft belonging to the ZYA-51's Air Division, responsible for the Madeira Incident, took off from Ndar on September 1st escorted by 6 SuX-11 multirole aircraft. They cruised at a steady pace of Mach 0.81 and clung closely to a corridor between the seaboard and islands in order to take control of the element of surprise. After flying for nearly 3 and 1/2 hours, they arrived at their destination of Porto Santo - the first island to be occupied by Portuguese forces - and started to bomb suspected enemy locations. Airports and ports were heavily bombed to ensure that Portuguese forces could not station themselves on the island. However, Portuguese radars started to pick up the Air Division and their escorts while they flew over Vila Baleira. Anti-Air systems were activated as such, and searchlights helped to detect Mundusian aircraft. After this, two escorts were downed and subsequently exploded by Portuguese weaponry. One strategic bomber was also downed, but the pilot bailed out in time. Remaining escorts proceeded to take out searchlights, but Portuguese aircraft had already taken off to deal with their problem. The Air Division and its remaining escorts escaped to international waters before these aircraft could catch them. Traveling back to Ndar, the Air Division and escorts made a quick landing at the Air Base.
