VILANIA CITY-July 14
We recently just received some very unsettling news out of the Grand Duchy of Valoriana. A communist revolution, led by a politician by the name of Franzèr Müller, has toppled the Grand Duke and the entire government of Valoriana. Due to this, the royal family has been forced to flee their home country as Müller’s regime would undoubtedly be hostile towards them should they have stayed. Since the Grand Duchess is a Vilanian princess, the royal family has been granted refugee status in Vilania until we can find a permanent solution to their predicament.
I, along with the rest of the Vilanian government, would like to voice our stern opposition to this revolution. While it does seem that in Valoriana’s democratically elected government, there were serious corruption issues, people should first seek reform before revolution. If reform is impossible, then revolution should replace the bad government with a better one. However, a communist government will not make the situation better.
There are many glaring problems with communism. One of the greatest is that in a communist society, you cannot have religion. In a communist society, you must worship the state. This, as we know, is disastrous. A society cannot be healthy and free if its citizens are forced to worship the government. They must be free to worship God.
Another issue with communism is the excessive state control over the economy. If the government takes control of all the important industries, there will be a severe lack of economic freedom, and hence, a lack of productivity and innovation. By legally banning all competition, the government will own a monopoly on everything it nationalizes. And if the government nationalizes practically everything, they will have no incentive to innovate or make their products better, because they will have no competition to outdo them. Therefore, the lack of economic freedom and competition in a communist system will inevitably lead to economic downturn.
What’s more, the communist system does not allow for political freedom. The ruling communist party cannot allow any other parties to inhibit or oppose their tyrannical rule. With no repercussions for criminal behavior and no peaceful way of overthrowing them, communist parties are free to do whatever they please. This far too often results in violations of human rights committed against the general populace.
Finally, communist regimes have a terrible track record. Look at the Soviet Union, Maoist China, North Korea, Cuba, and modern-day Venezuela. All of these countries are or were terrible places to live, with brutal dictatorships, little to no political freedom, and rampant poverty, among other issues.
For these reasons, the United Royal Republic of Vilania does not, and will not, support the communist revolution in Valoriana. We are cutting all diplomatic ties with the People’s Commune of Valoriana until Franzèk Müller is removed from power and the rightful government of Grand Duke Enrique II and Prime Minister Otto Shields is restored, albeit they must govern fairly and respect political and economic freedom. In the meantime, that is all. If more updates are needed on any action we will take, then it will be released in due time.
