News Portion:

Ships arrive in marmara as government announces entry into the TUI-Soviet war

With the brutal acts of Soviet agression taking place in recent times. The Iberian government has originally been reluctant to join the war but with the pressure of an MDP with TUI and the recent attacks on the Zukesa homeland, most government officials have agreed to aid Iberia's American allies. With the National House of Congress seeing a heavy mix of the Nationalist and Reformationist party's winning (they have very similar ideals atm), the proper paperwork was passed through legislation and Presidente Varela (he's currently running for a second actually democratic term) was able to sign off on the order. Borders have begun being fortified (purely precautionary since the MDP is only against Soviet)

Iberia is now at war

(This newsletter was posted almost right after about 43 Iberian ships arrived to fortify the marmara alongside TUI ships)

Actual details of the battle are probably going to be posted in the rp server since it's a bit

Actual battle:

The skies became dark as night began to fall, the skirmish between TUI and Soviet ships temporarily dying down as the standoff was going nowhere and neither side could see much of anything through the fog, occasional missiles were launched from some ships and aircraft always remained a threat, but typical canon fire seemed to be all but dead. TUI ships would eventually fall back by a tiny bit to guve the illusion the they were backing off for the time being, the Soviets bought into this, and one couldnt blame them, for the Americans had rqpidly been losing ground in marmara thanks to the numerical advantage of the Soviet Federation. However little did Soviet command know, this was a trap, a group of Soviet aircraft had been disbatched to trail the Americans a short bit to ensure a retreat and bunker down on any ground they could gain. The cover of night doing them well, the Iberians laid in wait at the fall back point of the Americans (generally very close to the coastline of the strait), the American Admiral having been well informed of the ambush plan on the Soviets. The thing about the Iberian tactic was as ssimple as they come, all ships would be fairly spread out to prevent major clumps from being easily spotting, all possible lights being turned off or dimmed, and radar blocking technology being used, once the Soviet aircraft were in range of the Iberian vessels (about 23 of the 43 total being anti air frigates, something Iberia produces a lot of) this tight anti air pocket would open fire on the aircraft, serving as a signal for the more offensive American/Iberian ships to fire on the Soviets. This surprise assistance and the Soviets attempting to figure out who the attackers are led to the Americans having ample time to release their own aircraft. While the initial goal of crippling the Soviets in a single attack proved unrealistic and as such wouldn't succeed, the Iberians would manage to get the drop on the Soviets and secure a chokepoint near the entrance to marmara. As an added bonus, the Sedrosian annexation of Istanbul as well as previous and current casualties inflicted on the Soviets by the taskforce have shown that the Soviets are not the masters of marmara and as more ships enter through friendly waters, the near cornered Soviet fleet will have 0 choice but to retreat

casualties:

Iberia: 7 ships, 2 aircraft (I sent like 4 recon planes) (4 destroyers, 2 anti air frigates, one cruiser (which is a major loss so dont whine at me))

TUI: ??? (He'll have to tell me later)

Soviets: 26 ships, 47 aircraft (both to anti air and American fighters)
