The young Republic of Novorossiya has recently signed an act referred to as the Self-Reliance act. The signatories of the act are the State Duma, President, some of the president's cabinet, and the Supreme Court of Novorossiya. The point of the act is to make the nation of Novorossiya become less and less reliant on foreign trade for resources. About 83% of the State Duma decided to pass the law and the Supreme Court made laws regarding it. However, this may start problems in the young nation because this started transferring money and resources into resource extraction, they even started taking from the military. The Head Chief of the Military Anastasiy Kovalyov stated, "As long as the state starts making an abundance of resources for the military, we can soon start militarizing again."
Though there has been a lot of debate in the government, but the population have something to say. Some of the people believe the act may make Novorossiya a power hub and an early regional power, some think that it may make Novorossiya a target for certain resources. Many believe that this plan will fail, and Novorossiya may fall in debt in resources and money. There seems to be a lot of debate about it amongst the citizens but there seems to be a fuss in another department, the workers. There are no laws that protect workers' rights and with this new act in place, we need to create multiple mines everywhere in order to not be in a deficit of resources. This happened to create angry workers and the Novorossiyan state has started drawing up a law about worker rights for preventing strikes and the Self-Reliance Act to not fail.
The act itself is a bit self-explanatory, the act makes sure to make the Novorossiyan state has the power to make its own resources and manufactured goods without going into a deficit and prevent using foreign goods instead. Besides having a lot of debate about it, it so far has been a success, and the point of it is not to make a monopoly in our country or to embargo the world.
